What surprised you most during the Miles to Michigan drama last year?

The vehement opposition to Pelini as an option surprised me the most. I thought BP was well liked around here and seems to be doing a good job at Nebraska. You would think tiger fans would pounce on him as our HC if Miles were to leave.

I was surprised by the overwhelming support shown for Miles, guess the rant has a short memory or the fear of loss was too great.

He also went batshit crazy on his qb in the middle of a game right around this time.

Agree with your comment concerning BP, but what surprised me the most was the outcry of "how can he even consider leaving." Particularly when you consider the brutal and constant bashing he took from "fans" of LSU who considered 10-2 records as failures.

Also surprised he stayed after the total lack of "love and respect" shown for him and his record at LSU.

The fact that so many thought he would actually take the UM job. That program is a mess right now, a complete rebuilding job with NO defense, and yet few believed he would stay here where it's rolling.

..suprised that upon the prospect of losing CLM, a great appreciation of what he has accomplished here and can accomplish in the future developed...

then the fear of losing it set in....

I think that during this time the 'professional' NEGATIGER was killed off. (may be complaining in the future, but it'll feel different that the constant saban v miles bull shite (which i think is or should be officially dead))

I was suprised Miles stayed. There is no doubt that he has love for Michigan, and coaches like Miles (loyal ones) tend to end up back home at some point.

The emotion and support for Miles based on the Cotton Bowl victory was heavy.
Seems like we feared (1) a collapse of what ended up a very good (but not great) ranked class and (2) the unknown of "if" we could get a better coach than Miles.

The way the rant, with few exceptions, rallied around Miles. He's kind of like a wife you take for granted until she starts packing her shite, and you have to look around and ask yourself "can I really do better"? I hope he retires here. He's just a great overall coach.

I think the reasons why people were opposed to Pelini was the most surprising.

No.
Pelini almost lost his job at Nebraska because of his behavior on the field. TO was pissed and so was the alumni.

People continue to misunderstand this. We played well in about 3 of those wins last year. The people bitching had a legitimate gripe.

Then they have people such as yourself who look at nothing but the end result. You see the record we ended up with and think people are crazy for bashing Miles.
