I need advice

Hey y'all, I am a first time poster in board. I watch soccer when I can, and am just starting to follow the EPL hard. I'm trying to find a new team to root for in the EPL. So far, I've narrowed my search down to a few teams:
-Arsenal
-Chelsea
-Tottenham Hotspur
-Man City
I have been leaning towards Man City and Chelsea, but the other two seem cool too.
I am thoroughly confused as to who I should root for. Two things is for sure, I don't like Liverpool, and I don't like Wayne Rooney. Also, this is just an EPL team to root for.. Oh and also a team that has a cool kit!...I must also add, over all, I'm a Barcelona fan..

This is your problem. Don't narrow your search. Yes, it's more fun to watch as a supporter, but take your time.

Why? If it's the aesthetics, you'll like Arsenal. I'd encourage you to watch a few teams.
If you are a team USA fan, watch Bolton, Fulham, Everton. All feature Americans.

Tottenham. At least for today.

The history of the club, and I started rooting for them since they got me into soccer from the Eto'o and Ronaldinho days. I just so happen to like Puyol, Messi, David Villa, and my favorite player is Zlatan.

What I did was pick a few that I would definitely not support: Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool. Then I did a little research on the others. I eliminated the teams that had just been promoted into the EPL this season as its hard for those clubs to typically stay in the EPL for any length of time. Then I started watching games on FSC and ESPN and settled on my team.

Stewie, I think your right. I am pro-America, but I just would like to find a team. I really can eliminate Tottenham of it. I find myself having a hard time distancing my loyalties from players on national teams when the EPL clubs play.

I picked Fulham for Dempsey, and I've enjoyed it. Everton are a big club with a lot of history, I like Tottenham too, b/c they are a big supporter of the San Jose Earthquakes. Bolton has Stu Holden.
Really, I'd encourage you to find an MLS team first, the move to the EPL. I know that's not likely, though.
Some people will say the club picks you. I don't think that's really true, but it's fun to shop around.
Just watch and see who you enjoy. There's no rush.

This. If you're already a Barca fan, and self-admitted Liverpool hater then just go ahead and pull for Chelsea so I'll never again have to be civil to you on this board.

Any of those four will do you...

You're a fig if you're a Barcelona fan and choose one of those 4 teams. My advice? Don't pick an EPL team, pick a Bundesliga team.

I'm in the same boat as you as I’m new to EPL football. I've been watching this season in hopes of finding a club by next season. I've been trying to get behind Arsenal but I'm having a hard time relating to their style of play. Watching them pass up great scoring chances for the perfect pass and shoot combination is maddening. The World Cup is what got me into soccer and I relate better to the USMNT’s style of play of max effort and scoring any way possible. Having said that, from what I’ve seen I think Barcelona is most similar to Arsenal so that may be your best bet.
Having trolled around here quite a bit I'll also say to beware of advice from some. Don’t eliminate Chelsea just because most people on the board hate Chelsea. You’re going to invest a lot of time and energy in supporting a team so don’t let someone else’s issues get in the way of that. I guess we just need to watch more matches and go with what feels right.

Everybody hates Chelsea with good reason.

That's kind of what I have been thinking as well. I am really just starting to troll here and see a little partisanship, but I definitely like Chelsea somewhat. Actually, the Man U vs. Chelsea shootout in the 2008 CL, brought me into watching the EPL. Though Chelsea lost, I was still rooting for them.
I like the Arsenal style of play, but I like the roster of Chelsea.
I know I'm definitely not a fan of: Man U and Liverpool
I kind of like Man City, but I don't think more than Arsenal or Chelsea.

You should go for Chelsea. There are already about 5-8 regular Arsenal supporters on this board. Chelsea has maybe 3 or 4. For the sake of balancing things out you should enter into their pool.

Fulham. Regular top flight club, battles for European spot, Clint Dempsey. Argument made.
