I recently found out that my family as well as a few other parties own the mineral rights to acerage in St. Landry Parish which is below the trend. The acreage is in the bottom half of St. Landry between the 2 levees in the Atchafalaya. Worth looking into? What should I expect? What information should i be looking for?

Have you received an offer to lease on any other property you have? You may find out that a lease is waiting on the ones you're discussing.

I live atop the Barnett Shale, and have two nearby rental houses. I received a letter offering a lease on my residence. I went to the company's office and noticed the impacted area covered both my rentals as well. I informed them that I owned other property in the area and gave them the addresses; it turned out they had already pre-printed a lease offer on one of them, and would check into the other (they had it ready two weeks later).

Dude, how many fiancees do you have??

Back to the topic, many in North La went through this learning phase with the Haynesville Shale. The most popular HS website now has an Austin Chalk forum. That'd be a good place to start.

I own property in Vernon Parish and recently many folks I know in the area have started receiving lease offers (whack terms btw). Is this in relation to this Tuscaloosa Marine Shale play?
