With us approaching the dregs of the off-season, what else are we going to do.

I paid Brent Calloway

Mickey Mantle, The Snake and Coach Bryant.

Coach Bryant, Bob Hope and Billy Graham.

Coach Bryant being more awesome than you could ever hope to be.

Coach Bryant and President Ford.

Coach Bryant and Coach Vaught.

Two of the best / well-known pics in Gamecock history.

Crappy quality. But that is William "The Fridge" Perry for Clemson right there. SC had just come back and won the game on the previous drive I believe and in that possession was running out the clock. Our QB (Mike Hold, seen in the pic) was going to kneel to run out the clock but called hike and just kind of backed off waiting for the clock to run out. Perry got up to him in his face and started pulling at Hold's facemask. When Hold got loose he dropped the ball at Perrys feet and said something along the lines of "Here you fricking have it" Now known as Hold That Tiger. I think that was in '84

Not sure what season this is in but this is my favorite pic of Taneyhill. Its at Clemson so I know we won because Taneyhill won both his games @CU.

Dude, this is a really good thread. Excellent idea. I am enjoying all of these old pictures.

ETA: If I can find a way, I will scan in some shots of an old Auburn vs. Tennessee football program I have. It is from 1937 I believe. I will look into that when I get home from work.

Why in God's name couldn't the Bear have talked JV into recruiting those athletic black fellers the same time he did? All our problems would have gone away if JV wasn't such a racist a-hole. Of course, everyone was a racist a-hole back then, but still.

The Bear valued winning over racism and it started Bama on a path to perpetual football success. JV dug his heels in and refused to do what was best for the program, and now look at us.

Douche bag.

Vanderbilt, Look Magazine's 1951 pre-season #1. Bill Wade, 42, was the Los Angeles' Rams #1 pick in the '52 NFL draft and first overall pick that year as well.

Back in November, my husband decided he wanted to see the photos from the 1961 Alabama/ Georgia Tech game. He lived in Atlanta as a boy and he remembered the coverage from the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Alabama player Darwin Holt smashed Chick Graning in the face in that game. It was a serious injury and there was a lot of negative publicity for the Tide. I requested an interlibrary loan, but I'm still waiting on it. Don't know what spurred the notion, but he wanted a copy of the story and the photos.

Frank Thomas third from left. The guy on the right became a pretty good HC, too.
