Who will be our leader on defense?

I’m not doubting that we do, but I just don’t know if a vocal leader has been established for the D, ala Sheppard, Highsmith, or Dorsey. I know that Mathieu has everyone licking their chops as far as his play making ability, but I don’t really see him as voice of the defense. How is our LB situation as far as established starters, because that’s usually where leadership comes from.
As scary as our D is going to be this year, we still need that centerpiece. Not a superstar, per se, but just someone all the other guys look to.
I guess I should caveat all of my questions like this with “I live in Florida and hear nothing but Bama, AU, UF, and FSU news all the time, and nothing LSU”. At least it’s not Arky country

Claiborne and Mathieu could step into the role in a way. They definitely know how to set the tempo and intensity on defense.

Taylor is the person primed to take the leadership role. He's the senior with the most playing time.

TM. actual leadership is overrated. make plays and guys will follow. he's the best playmaker.

Current: Ryan Baker
Soon: Eric Reid

Taylor will be it. TM can make plays, but he is still young.

I'm going to guess they don't name offensive and defensive captains till the fall?

Taylor and Hatcher
Honestly, I'm hoping these two don't see the field very often

My guess is that the defensive captain will be Baker or Taylor. Since a lot of people are taking Taylor, I'll take Ryan Baker.

The freshman talent produced more on the field last year than Taylor did in 3 years. Hatcher's play speaks for itself, but the move to LB could be a smart one. I'm holding out judgement on him for now.
