OK, so my kayak should be coming in soon and when i'm not chasing reds, i'll be casting for bass which apparently line the bayou not 40' from where i sit now. The thing is, i've never bass fished and rarely fewshwater fish.
I'm going to walmarks tonight to buy bass fishing baits. My budget is $15. What are the must haves?

Worms are cheap.
Get a scum frog for early morning when the water is calm. Easy and fun. They cost $3

4 packs of worms, 2 each of pumpkinseed and purple with gold/silver flake.
2/0 and 3/0 worm hooks. Bullet sinkers- get a pack from 1/8 oz and up.
Salt n pepper spinnerbait with Colorado blade.
Salt n Pepper buzzbait.
Chugger or scum frog, your choice. Color doesn't much matter.
ETA: frick a crankbait. Seriously. frick em.

Frogs are not for beginers IMHO
1. Tiny torpedo
2. Bandit
3. Pack of trick or finess worms
4. 2/0 gamkatsu(sp?) or Owner hooks.

3/0 gap hooks, 1/8 oz bullet weights, chartreuse and pepper plastic lizards. Texas rig that bad boy.

Seriously though, there is alot of very good daily info about fishing on this board that you will earn alot from.
Good luck. You're almost a tier 4!

If it were me:
3/0 offset shank hooks (for texas rig)
1/8 bullet weights (for texas rig)
I'd get a pack of brush hogs, a pack of finesse worms, and a pack of trick worms or culprit worms. For colors I like watermelon red, plum, red bug, and okeechobee craw. I find the technique is more important than color, the color's more of a confidence thing.
1/8 -1/4 oz spinnerbait
Scum frog for topwater
If you want to try wacky rigging i'd get 2/0 weedless hooks and fish the finesse worms wacky rigged.
And if after that you have a few bucks left over i'd get a chrome and blue 1/2 oz Rat-L-Trap

On the brush hogs, make sure you get baby. For clearer water, watermelon red is great. For the muddier water, try a junebug red

throw in one or two H&H double colorado blade spinner baits in white and yellow/black.
when you get them pull the rubber skirt off then reverse it so it is on inside out. Then put the hook on so the hook points are up.
