I never seem to have good luck with crankbaits or rattlers.

Worms, spinnerbaits (including buzzbaits) and topwaters seem to work for me.

For saltwater I have never caught a trout on a dorky mullet or any sinking mirrolures.

Never caught anything on a top dawg even though I've seen other people catch big reds with them.

Fluke. Mainly because I don't fish with them.

i used to throw em a good bit with no luck so i put em down. one day i was in some pretty shallow water and i could see the bass chasing baitfish all around me so i went back to the shad colored fluke , i pretty much caught a fish with every cast ! when that bag of flukes ran out so did the fish , they didnt want anything else. i threw flukes for a year after that and never caught another fish

Wow man.

In the middle of the summer a buzz bait is my go to lure.

In fall it definitely is. Probably over 70% of my fall bass have been caught on a buzzer.

And I haven't caught very many on a jig either.

Jig and spinnerbait. I'm more confident with plastics and cranks, so I just don't throw them that much.

Eventually, I plan to change that...

I'll admit that I've never really given the buzz bait much of a chance , I can't get over the way the damn things look I guess I should reconsider that. What I have done well with is a ribbit frog , I burn it for a second so it works similar to a buzz bait and then let it sink for a second and burn it again. Killer in the Lilly pads

First time I ever caught a bass on a buzzer I was about 10 or so. I was fishing a stock pond with a buddy of mine. Made a long cast, reeled all the way back in to where the line was about 4 feet or so from the rod tip and I was about to take it out of the water.

A 3 lber or so EXPLODED on the bait and my only reaction was to jerk back... the fish literally ended up in my lap. My heart was pounding out of my chest. I was hooked after that.

I guess I need to break down and pick up a couple buzz baits for the box ! I've gotten to the point that I throw soft plastics 90% of the time , I used to be a spinner bait guy and I've even gotten away from those over the last couple years. What about wake baits ? Seems like you'd get pretty similar results to a buzz bait
