fishing the beaches and mangrove lagoons

Any type of fishing requiring distance paddling, requires a long narrow boat. Otherwise you will kill yourself getting there and back. The paddleboard is a neat concept, but not great when around waves and wakes. Any of the Hobie Peddleboats are good for long hauls, as are the Manta Rays and Tarpons, 14' at least. Peddleboats will run you $1800 to $2500, the MR14 or Tarpon 14 around $1000. I'd buy used to make sure you like it, then move up in a couple of years. Lots of good used kayaks in Fla area.

I know what you mean, but they are great around waves. I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy a board more than a boat.
