Fall '02- Spring '06
That was a damn good time. It's disappointing that women's basketball couldn't seal the deal on at least one NC, but there wasn't much else to complain about during those years.

Wow Chicken - we kind of dovetailed there (not that there's anything wrong with that) -
I was at LSU-BR from the Fall of 1988 through the Spring of 1991. I technically didn't earn my degree until 1993, but that was all military stuff to make up the gap.
Football was waning and Basketball was popular (Shaq and CJ). Baseball was beginning to get good, but did not have the following it does now.

2006-now.
Seen football and baseball win a national championship, football in Sugar Bowl, baseball with 2 trips to Omaha, men's bball in Final Four, women's bball in 2. Watched many of the all-time great Tigers and some classic games in person topped by 07 Florida.
For my money, I was here for a stretch of "glory years" and couldn't be happier.
Oh and yea, Saints Super Bowl to top all that off.

Doin' the Dalton
coined that phrase one crazy eve. as an lsu student. Had the buttons made "Do the Dalton" one Saturday afternoon Brent Musburger said on national tv "They are Doing the Dalton in Baton Rouge" more to the story but that is the short version. Still have about 30 of those buttons. Gave a handfull to Dalton after Lsu and "Risher Riddled the Tide" in Birmingham that one awesome Saturday afternoon..

Summer of '67 (summer of Love) and I loved every minute of my time at LSU. Drank more beer than Mac's football team scored points that Fall - almost kept up beer per point with the basketball team too. Was simply the best of times - not that I was sober that much! 5 years later - graduated and Cholly Mac moved on - still was great games.
i was there '68 to '72. don't forget about pistol pete. daham, was he fun to watch! in the old cow palace. football was a blast too. one activity fee and you had entrance to all lsu sports. went to some baseball games but we were average at best. football was king and the fans gave a brand new oldsmobile to chollie mac. as a student, there is nothing more fun than an lsu football game. chollie mac always had a great defense and we almost always went 9-1 and had a great bowl. at my age, the players timeframe sometimes get blurred but i know eddie ray was our stud RB. warren capone, art cantrelle, mike anderson, etc (but these guys may have been a little later). my memory could be blurred because 12-14 hrs of drinking on game day killed my most valuable football remembering cells.

A lot of people on this site seem like they were in school around the same time as me. I got to see two football NCs, basketball final four. Track was awesome, softball ranked in top ten, women's bball go to final four a bunch of times in a row, gymnastics had some all stars, but baseball was kind of weak. They didn't get better till after I graduated.

Fall 97 - 2000.
Started off great with a decent 3 loss season including a win over #1 florida and then it went down quickly. They fired Dinardo a few months before I graduated and hired some unknown joe out of the big 10.

Grad fall of 2000. Football was memorable with fla 97, the 10-2 '96 season and bowl wins. Baseball of course awesome in that time. Basketabll with stromile swift, jabari, etc. Football obviously was not fun in '99 so basketball was a welcomed sport to follow with lamont roland, beshara, swift, bright, smith, etc. Had fun destroying arizona and running on the court when we won the sec vs ole miss. Stromile going nuts vs kentucky was a sight.
If I couldve picked a 4 year span I think u guys that hit the fall 03 to fall 07 worked it just right...even if u did have an extra semester like me!

Grad May 1993. Shaq was gone, football sucked. Thank God for baseball. Went to every game and regional.

You were there the same time I was.
Shaq was there, loved watching him play. I remember students wearing "Come back Shaq" T-shirts his junior year. Boy Football sucked though.
Tailgaiting was still fun. Loved the music and RV's pulling up to campus on Fridays. Don't know where the music came from but it sounded like it came from the stadium.

98-2002
Football sucked and was starting to come back around at the end
Basketball was decent with a good season mixed in with Stromile & Co.

Fall 96 - Spring 01
Football started out OK...then tanked a bit...then Saban came along. Saw the Florida game in 97.
Baseball was phenomenal. Woulda, shoulda, coulda been 1998 against USC. Attended the 2000 CWS.
Basketball...well, better than today. Love the Swift, Smith, Bright, Beshara, Roland, Williams, Dupree, Temple, JACK WARNER team.

That is pretty cool!
I was frat brothers with a couple of guys from Patterson & they kept telling me about this great running back coming to LSU. Of course, the "marquee" recruit was Gary James, but in deference to them I was cheering for Dalton to get a chance.
Man, he hit the ground running (so to speak) that first game & never looked back. Gary James was good & they made a hellava pair to draw to, but Dalton definitely outshown Gary at LSU & the pros.
He, along with Ethan Martin, were my two favorite "hometown" LSU sports stars back in the day.
