bunting with no outs and your best hitter up, trey watkins batting and even being a starter, and watching the 3rd strikes go by with the bat on the shoulder. very tough loss. very tough. tomorrow is now a much needed tough win.

I agree with the bunt call fwiw. Execution was the issue - not the call.

Ott and Nola blew the game. Nola had 2 very costly errors.

Watkins needs to ride the pine.

The bunt decision I thought was worst. Thr runner is already in scoring position. Now, I understand the significance of 3rd base...then a WP, fly ball, error, etc. can score him. But, you have your leading hitter, a contact hitter up. His chances of moving him up is 50-50 anyway and about 30-35% to get a hit of it. That seems like the logical decision. Very conservative move at the end. Bunting in the college game is not an automatic.

It was an execution problem, but Coach M. should have never had him bunt in that situation. He was already in scoring position to tie the game up. He over thunk it.

I don't like bunting with no outs and a man on second right there, not with a guy hitting .400 but as some said, Ott is a huge concern.

Very tough loss, but give FL some credit, they could have folded after going down 3-2.

if that bunt is executed.. u have 1 out and a runner on third.. and who comes to bat.. TREY WATKINS..

no thanks.. i DISAGREE with the decision bc of the fact trey was on deck.. let your hitter that is due for a hit.. hit.. and u got florida on the ropes.

no shite, he's got the mentality of a kicker right now, he is not right in the head and this game won't help. I was hopoing he forgot about last year but this might set him back. He is certainly not matty ice right now, there is no ice water in his veins at the moment.

Just curios, was he bunting towards the same player who commited the error earlier? Maybe CPM was trying to apply more pressure on a player who had just made a mistake.

I have an excellent idea. Since many of you are questioning the coaching decisions, then why don't you apply for the head coach's job since ya'll seem to know what should have been done.

I would have been fine either way ... Jones swinging away or bunting, but you HAVE to get the bunt down in that situation if the coach calls for it. There are great arguments to be made both ways, but it's a 50-50 call, and I have absolutely no issue with them putting on the bunt in that situation. It's certainly not "stupid" to put the bunt on in that situation, and anyone that claims so is just being dramatic.

But, like others have said, Nola and Ott lost that game.

Ty Ross was also unable to get a bunt down in a crucial situation earlier in the game, which stunted a scoring opportunity.

Oh well, it sucks, but they've gotta bounce back tomorrow. That's baseball ... gotta put a tough loss behind you, and put it behind you fast.

LATIGERFAN - Are u serious? I don't know of ANY teams that fold when they are down a run in the ninth. Down 5 or 6 runs, maybe. But one?

bunting was full of crap. And Ott is a major concern. I feel the brooms coming out.

THANK YOU, someone gets it. I'm 99.999999% sure CPM's thought process was "Hey lets bunt the guy to third then either a safety or suicide squeeze (or base hit or sac fly) to get him home." Someone literally said earlier (on the game thread) that it was a stupid idea to bunt with your best hitter to get to your worst hitter, I liked the call, JaCoby just royally screwed up and then WTF was with both Trey and Raph taking called strike 3s
