Has there been an estimated timeframe when the NCAA will announce any possible further punishment? I'd like to know before the Spring game, so I know how intoxicated to get.

Cowherd is on the air right now saying, that Tressel and Pearl committed the same offense, and that Pearls sanctions are significantly more severe.

Another quote

"Pearl had a semi conscience about his transgressions, Tressel just stuck his head under the pillow."

Seems to me that anyone who called for Pearl to be fired, kicked out of college sports should be asking for the same punishment regarding Tressel.

Remember Tressel's punishment is sel-imposed by OSU.

The other thing is that if all this is corroberated then Tressel comitted fraud and he and more likely Ohio St. could be held liable for tortuious action from the first school left out of the BCS.

The NCAA has to come down harder on OSU than they did USC otherwise they impeach whatever credibility they have left and they too may also find themselves in deep trouble in the form of lawsuits for multiple counts of conspiracy.

missing 8/35 or 36 games is almost as equal as missing 2/12 or 13 (it'll probably go to 3)

now to be fair the ncaa should make the games during the conf season.

but another key part is bruce's transgression involved a recruit. a big big no no.

It would be equal to missing the first 4 conference games, IMO.

Tennessee imposed sanctions, too. I'd say being banned from a year of recruiting off campus is more severe than missing OSU's two glorified scrimmages at the beginning of the year.

Teneessee's sanctions were definitely worse...but again OSU sanctions are only self imposed thus far...i'm going to assume and actually hope that the NCAA makes it right.

I'm sure the finallyfast is going to call tell me im not a loyal fan, but it is only fair.

I'm sick of all this "Big Ten getting preferential treatment compared to SEC" bullshittery. After the Aurbun mess, I'm not really sure how anyone can argue that.

so knowingly playing ineligible players isn't a big no no?

no, but the typical thing to do (unless you are Auburn) is to hold anyone out of games if you are concerned they are not eligible

Which is what Richt did with Green and Saban did with Dareus at the start of last year

It is not typical (and asking for punishment) to play kids if you have reason to suspect they may not be eligible... the NCAA won't tell you that tho. They leave the decision to the school until they have definitive proof

Sarcasm I hope

not only is this going to get OSU sanctioned it will put a smear on what had been an extremely positive reputation for Tressell. Kinda sad really

It might not matter as far as the backup qb is concerned. Maybe you guys should have just played him, just in case OSU has to forfeit the Sugar Bowl.
