It pisses me off that a Beret hasn't been worn correctly in a movie since John Wayne put one on.

It pisses me off more that they tried to pull off a Nam movie in a Burbank, Ca movie lot.

The Green Berets was filmed in Georgia. That final scene with JW and the Vietnamese kid walking towards the beach was filmed in the Savannah/Tybee Island area. I remember watching this as a kid, and asking my dad if they had pine trees in Vietnam.

Not so much the uniforms, but other things can throw me off a movie. For instance, there's no possible way that I could believe anything in The Hurt Locker would happen in real situations. That threw me off the movie entirely.

Yes, all the time. In fact I just posted this in another thread.

quote:

One of the things that sticks out in ID4 is when Will is leaving Vivica after being recalled. He is standing at the car and his shoulder board on his greens is over his collar. Then it cuts to him again, it is under, then it is over the collar again.

All of which is crap because any real marine would not leave the house with his uniform all ate up.

It also really bugs me when I see someone who is way to young or way to bitch to be in charge or of some rank.

Godzilla is the worst military movie ever. There must have been no military advisor on that film. The colonel is all ate up, and some E-6 is in charge of everything.

Outbreak has Cuba Gooding Jr. (who was all of about 26 at the time) playing a MAJOR in the army and he acted like a private.

Tyrese Gibson was promoted like 3 ranks in 2 years in between Transformers 1 and 2.

Don't get me started on Hurt Locker.

I saw Renaissance Man like a week after I got out of Basic Training. What a load of CRAP!!! In the Army Now was like 100 times more realistic of Basic Training than RM.

u should see the movie Badland then. Its about PTSD. A black guy is a Marine on leave and his uniform is so bad and phony its hilarious. The guy also has a semi-afro.

Badland

Special war-time commissions..

You would think under some circumstances promotions can happen much faster, like field promotions in time of war.
