I like this exercise because the amusement I get out of it is easily greater than the effort I put into making one...
Just to clarify the rules...
Is it's okay if we alter the source pic (levels, saturation etc.) to make the cover art a little more dramatic?
I didn't with this pic but I did on my first two...

I think the main points are to use the Band Name and the Album name rules... The source photos can probably be "adjusted", but I think adding to them is a bit too much.
You're right about the amount of time vs. enjoyment though, I think it's great.
A lot of these are legit as hell, can you believe there's entire departments devoted to doing EXACTLY this (well, organically) and they get paid bank to do it? Crazy.
Its another way to waste time.. If you're not at a comp with PS/Gimp? picnik is actually really perfect for this.
