not a big NBA fan...

this just doesn't make sense, to trade away your insurance policy w/ CP3 having 2 years left on his deal...

Because we got a starter for a bench player. In the NBA now it is about the here and now not about the future as much.

Why didn't the Cavs trade LeBron when he said X number of days until, "I become a free agent?"

its obvious they should have packaged thornton to get rid of poseys contract/get ariza or whoever we could have gotten.

it would have also stopped us from getting JACKed UP as well and we would have our PG of the future. now we're stuck with ariza, jack and carl landry

People wanted Collison. Thornton's value wasn't nearly as high.

If NO kept Collison they couldn't improve the team and guaranteed Paul would leave. Demps absolutely had to pick one and he chose to go with the elite player that would stay if he could build a good enough team around him. Don't forget that before Okafor got injured we were the 3 seed in the West. This team is not that far away from contending, especially with the East getting stronger and West getting weaker.

People keep saying he's good as gone but ever since Demps took over I'd say we keep inching closer and closer to keeping Paul. Some of it has been Demps' moves but a lot of it are external factors like the pending lockout and the shift of star power to the Eastern conference.

Ding ding.

Plus, Paul is a superstar and had 2 years left on his deal...not 2 months.
