and go after Deangelo Williams? Then, maybe trade PT for some defensive help.

And if we did pull this move off how will this affect other moves we will/should make in the near future?

then we would be in a worse position than we are already at RB. We need a RB that can stay healthy and none on the roster can. Even if we get Williams then we still need another RB we can depend on besides Ivory.

Reggie gets knocked for being hurt but PT stays just as hurt. Ivory had health issues for most of the season as well.

It's amazing how a year ago it seemed that we had made some of the best evaluations of talent late in the drafts with our running backs but now we know why they went where they did in the draft. Maybe one of our guys can bounce back and pay dividends.

This is one of the most anxious off seasons we've had in a few years now.

I would sign Williams, let PT walk(wants too much money), restructure Bush's contract and move him to the slot receiver, and draft a young back

Wouldn't they try and shop Reggie rather than just release him?

Saints should go for value in the forth round and draft Steven Ridley.

I agree, but then they have to wait for a new CBA, right?

I hope we restructure.

Oh, and screw Ridley.

No body will pick him up for 12 million a year. Now I am not sure how that would work, if lets say he is traded to another team, could that team rework his current due contract of 12 million, maybe so.

just go after..no

I would rather pay Deangelo $11 million to be my RB than Bush.

-PT cannot be traded, his contract is up
-Reggie has zero market value, his current deal is untennable, he has to restructure or be cut, so he's a virtual free agent
-the Saints have no 4th Rd draft pick to get Ridley (maybe with their 7th Rd)
-Deangelo Williams is likely to be out of the Saints contract price range

Bush will get cut - to restructure his contract. He's staying in NOLA folks, he wants to be here.

If PT still wants big money, bye bye pierre. We have Ivory, Hamilton, Bell.. There's plenty talent at RB that can't stay healthy, and PT is no different. I didn't see Shockey getting released coming.. Makes me wonder if he wanted more money or if he didn't want to take a cut.

This. He's virtually played his way out the big free agent contract and there's no GM in the league taking him and his $11M in a trade.

I'd really like Reggie to stay if he took a substantial pay cut (6-7 million).

Pierre is a good RB but I wouldn't break the bank for him either at this stage and I'm not sure how much he wants to come back to play for Payton.

I would urge caution in relying on Lynell Hamilton being a savior next season. He's had a number of knee injuries and I'm not sure how much the Saints would like to rely on him as anything beyond a fringe player at this point.

i have a feeling the saints will resign reggie for less money than he currently makes but more than most of you would like........and I'm for keeping him, if its for a few mil less

so he'd be making 4-5 million??

That's still a lot for his production

-------------------

eggzackly, I think we need a Capology 101 Class around here

Jones-Drew new deal in '09 pays him about $4mil a yr and someone wants to pay Reggie that?

They started the same year. How do their numbers compare?

Carries MJD 1141 RB 524
Yds MJD 5248 RB 2090
Rush TDs MJD RB 17
Receptions MJD 235 RB 294
Yds Per Rec MJD 8.9 RB 7.3
Rec Tds MJD 7 RB 12

Yeah, that's similar $4mil a yr production -even if MJD isn't the threat Reggie is

I think Kendall Hunter, Jacquizz Rodgers, or Jordan Todman late in the 3rd Rd for $400 THOUSAND a year could fill his shoes.
