So, I have had my truck long enough now that I am ready for some changes. I have a dark blue 09 Dodge 2500 Mega Cab diesel 4x4 SLT.

I have added wheel to wheel step rails that I modified to sit 1.5 inches lower and further out than initally designed. I have also had the bed and the step rails spray lined. I had the interior done in leather and put in husky liner floor mats in the front and back floor spaces. I also added window vents.

Here she is in the snow.

I am definitely going to add a 2" front leveling kit an 35" tires. I may or may not add the wheels too. I dont really hate the stock 8 lug dodge wheels, though.

I had bushwacker fender flares on my last truck that was silver and liked them but I am not sure on this truck due to color.

Im also thinking about adding a replacement bumper with grill gaurd in the front and possibally the rear. I have not decided if I want a winch or not. I have never had a need for one.

A friend also suggested that I add either a toneau cover or headache rack. I not sure I see the utility of a rack and the cover would get in the way too often I think.

I was also thinking of adding a super chip as I put about 50 miles on the truck a day.

What would yall modify, add, or do?

It has different modes. You can change it to where it gets better gas mileage, or you can change it to add horsepower.

But yes it can and will increase gas mileage regardless of which mode.

Do the chip and a cold air intake. Add a bug guard, dual exhaust, and Yosemite Sam mud flaps.

Show me a GMC that has equivalent cab space or leg room for back seat passengers and I would consider it.

Cold air intake? why what advantage? basic cost?

Dual exahust? why what advantage?

Looking for a good all terrain tire in 35" with some degree of side lug but not so agressive that they whine on the road or handle poorly. I have run Nitto's for the last 5 years and like them.

Cold air intake?

Dont do it, it will help with gas mileage a little bit but it will take over a year to gain back the money you would have spent on it.

Dual exahust?

Yes do it, it looks cool, sounds cool, increases gas mileage, and increases horsepower. I would choose a flowmaster muffler. You can take your pick of which one you like depending on how you want it to sound.

Nitto Terra Grapplers or BFG All terrains

Besides getting some aftermarket transmission instead of the crap they got in there....
I'd go with true duals for the exhaust, and some simple Maxxis Buckshot Mudders. (look and feel just like riding on bf goodrich mudders.)
Just put a simple leveling kit, and nothing else. Keep it simple.

I wouldn't recommend the BFG all terrains. I have them right now, and I am wishing I got mud tires. They get caked up very easily and have no lug on the side. I think I'm going to go with Nitto Trail Grappler next

BP,
My pops just traded his 05 dodge for or 09 megacab. Its lifted on 35s. It basically my truck(the one in my sig) but a megacab. yes, I am jealous. you will see both his and mine next week.

this is the list of mods I have done to mine so far
Black 08 6.7 QC auto 4x4 sport, AFE stage2, PDI 5" TBE 6" tip, Edge Jucie/att./hot, mp-8, egr delete, 4.5 fabtech, dual bilstiens, thuren trackbar, fox stabilizer, 35"toyo mt's, 20" black rockstars, tint, bed cover, srt hood.....

next up will be a set of steps and a set of fender flares. that will be within the next few months.

because you have the 6.7 you will likley want to rip out that exhaust and run a straight pipe from the turbo back. That stock exhaust has so many filters on there that it will cog fast. the truck needs to breath. if you are really looking for better mileage, they have many much better options than the super chip. Im not knocking it because they make a decent product, but if you spend a little more you will get a lot more.

the 6.7's dont get good fuel mileage as easi;y as the 5.9's but they can get better. I have been getting 19 going from houston to Baton Rouge.

if you want some good advice check out cumminsforum.com lots of very knowledgeable guys over there.

I also have a roll up bed cover on mine no that comes in handy a lot and is very easy to roll up or down.

I have a 2 wheel long bed 2500. Left it stock. I love my truck to the point that I will not even get in the wifes car for any trip longer then 15 miles. Oh, I have that 5.9L cummins and one just can't beat it. Crusing at 80 mph, I get 22.8 mpg. Towing a boat at 75mph which weights around 9,000 lbs, my mileage drops to 16.5 mpg. Oh, it has all the power one needs.

One think to remenber. Once you make mods, you blow the warrenty.

By the way, nice color. Same as mine!

I love the 5.9. I looked for one for a long time before I bought mine. Now that I have my 6.7 and I have done a few mods to it, I'm happy I didn't get the 5.9.

In order for you to "blow your warranty" they have to prove that any damage to your truck was caused by the aftermarket parts you added.
