45/70. I love the thing and its length allows for quick target acquisition from the truck window.

No, you should have buddies to hold the light.

I have one in a 444. Hell of a gun. I like how compact it is. I'm really impressed with how accurate it is for being such a cheap gun.

444 will out perform the 45/70.

Neither are in the ballpark of .35 Whelen...

True, but figured I'd throw that out there since he was trying the one-up technique...

I see. The difference between the two isn't enough to discount the 45/70 IMO. They will both do a number on any critter that may roam these parts.

i have put the cross hairs on several deer and they have everyone been put in the freezer and that is all that matters to me and all shots nomore than 150 yards either rifle is good if it does that.

Under 150, you are good with any of them. It's over 150 where things change...

Love my Rem Nylon 66 .22 LR...Not sure if they still make them but very durable even if abused.

Best gun I have ever owned.

They're great guns. Very accurate and easy to hunt with.

Only dislike is the recoil. Those are big rounds for a 6 lb rifle.

I have the 444 Marlin. Kicks like a mule but shoots damn good at 100 yards. Great rifle for cheap.
