Was drug to the one in Baton Rouge Friday night for my girlfriend's best friends daughter birthday. By far the worst meal experience of my life. Got there at 6:45. Table of 13. Three retirees, four kids ranging from 15 to 19. Rest middle aged. Place was cold as could be due to all the windows(although they had shades that several of the tables decided to draw down to help the temperature). I ordered someonion strings for an appetizer. Everybody else at the table were too busy running their mouths to hear the waitress ask for starters. Twenty minutes passes and my strings come. Waitress finally takes orders for entrees. My strings dissappear because everybody is starving by now. About this time some servers begin dragging tables around right behind us, trying to fit a table of 5 together. This table begins conversation loud enough for people in the parking lot to hear. Thirty minutes later we still haven't received entrees. I turn around and look through the resturant and see our waitress dancing on the "dance floor" along with some of her co-workers. This expalains why my Panko Shrimp with New Cheesy potatoes arrives at my table cold. By this time everyone is griping. My girlfriend ordered Mahi-Mahi and got Salmon instead. Everyone begins eating. I look up and see one of the 18yr old girls at the table, eating her Grilled Chicken Ceasar salad with damn fingers! Not just a bite, but like half the damn thing. A few minutes later, I see the 16 yr old birthday girl picking the corn kernals off of the cob with her fingers! Oh yeah--the cheesy new potatoes that I had were just new potatoes quartered with cheddar soup poured over them. Thankfully the grandma brought a homeade red velvet cake. I had 2pieces. Two hours and fifteen minutes later I was out of there. Never, ever, ever go back.

Let me guess. You're from either Livingston or Ascension parish...

I hate going to a restaurant with a large party. I've been with 8 that wasn't too bad, but, was all adults who didn't insist on breaking down check to the 13th percentage point.

Looks like you may have picked too high end of a place.
I side with Crab Shack. I acknowledge their awfulness(one of the chains that is truly deserving of their horrible reputation.) but shite, y'all were eating without utensils

Just because you went through a terrible experience dining doesn't mean you have to
take it out on us!

So about 1/2 of your bad experience seems to be Joe's fault, and about 1/2 was the fault of members of your party, unless the waitress never brought silverware to your young companions.
Moral of the story:
1. Don't go to places like Joe's Crab Shack expecting quality food & service, especially with a large crowd. Joe's is overpriced for what you get, IMO.
2. Don't go out to eat with people who don't know how to eat in public unless you just want to be entertained by watching them.
Look at it this way, at least you didn't go someplace really nice where the lack of table manners would have been more noticeable.

Sounds like the patrons were a perfect match for the place. Had to be one step up from their norm,Golden Corral.Ashame that Sears Charm School didn't take on the teens..........

Went one time and the boiled crabs I ordered were almost hollow. I mean next to NO crab meat.
I couldn't complain because some friends brought me there for dinner and they were paying.
Easily one of the worst seafood dinners in my life.

I have to sympathize, somewhat. My only experience was with a group and it was not my choice. JCS forever earned the title of worst restaurant in BR.
The deal with the wait staff setting aside hot trays of food to sing and dance is positively the dumbest thing I've ever seen in a restaurant. I got up and walked over, saw it was our order, picked up the tray and brought it to the table. Naturally this upset the applecart and the manager came over to speak to me. I had to laugh in his face.
Fine dining axiom #37
Females under the age of 30 do not get to chose the restaurant unless the are paying, including the bar bill.
