It's one of the safer bets in regards to LSU football over the last 10 years.

We'll go from putrid to average.. and love every second of it

I don't think there is anything controversial to what I said. How much control the OC has in Les Miles' offense has always been questioned on here.

Based on his comment about his wife's choice of husband, I am guessing he has poor self esteem. No wonder he wants to be up in the booth.

The SS option IS a valid play - if the blocking matchups are right and the QB is effective in running it.

Reason people give it grief is LSU didn't run it well, at all....and then continued trying to do it.

I have a hard time buying that option tams make their living on the short side. Then again ive never coached it, nor have i ever noticed it in all my years of watching football. That is just my opinion on it.

I've watched a LOT of WM and Curtis games over the years. They both make their living on short side options. The key is the QB attacks the DE and forces him to decide. JJ strings the play out too long, leaving the running back with NO ROOM left once he pitches. It wasn't the call, it was the execution. Now after the horrible execution over and over, it should have been scrapped.

It wasn't just on here last year. There was talk in the media after Miles started sporting a play call sheet on the sidelines.

that was rare...and i think it was because he got pissed off. Example is the Mississippi State game.

My new year's resolution is to be nice to you this year. We're going to be cordial and agree this year dammit.

I am talking about a true option. The one LSU ran under Crowton.

I know Curtis runs more of a veer because they never have elite athletes at QB. That is a different monster than this form.

And I agree, the execution by LSU on option plays has been horrible; to either side. Like I said, maybe my view is cloudy because I havent seen a good option team on a college level in about 8 years.

But I would think if you ask most coaches and they'll take the side of the field with more room and an extra defender, especially if the QB knows what he is doing.

Rather than getting pinched to a sideline with no room for an outside pitch or cut back. It is just much easier to defend an option to the short side.

An exclusive option offense may have it down. But to run it as a change of pace just doesn't make sense.

I would also venture to guess LSU has 10 players on its roster that could run it better than JJ. Yeah, they might not present a passing threat, but they could make better decisions, and keep spacing and pace in line with the RB.

You're posturing yourself for posting in some of the inevitable "Miles has handcuffs on Kragthorpe" threads.

Incorrect. Why did you ditch the Sammich handle? Can I have access to it?

I dont buy into it. If miles had been calling the shots then he has been doing it since 05. Cant really argue the success he had until 09.

How long do you think we give Krag til we can say he is better than crowton. Our offense may never be arse good as it was in 07, but i would imagine it will be a lot better than 09 and 10.

WOW, he is an excellent spoksman and no wonder Les let him speak immediately. Also bet he's a great recruiter. Les must be very happy to have him.

The timing could not be better for LSU and Coach Kragthorpe. He's not chasing a HC job and wants to be at LSU coaching the best players college football has to offer. Also nice timing 2 days before signing day to get this press conference out on the Internet. I bet we pick up a couple of surprise big recruits!
