Of course that is the correct way to evaluate. But what's the fun of that?
To judge the staff on recruiting, it's not entirely fair to have the benefit of hindsight that they do not have.
So right now, knowing what we know, how good of a class do we have?
I'm having a hard time finding a better one in recent memory.

Well, look at 2009. We had three 4-stars and a 3-star. Two of the 4-stars are no longer with the team (Ainsworth and Lowe) and the other two are looking promising. Actually, the 3-star (Williford) has been the biggest contributor to date. Faulk may end up being better, but we don't know that yet.

I would say the 2001 class....
Ben Wilkerson
Andrew Whitworth
Rudy Niswanger

Rudy Niswanger

Again, look at the 2007 class. We had four 4-stars, two of whom never played a down. The other two really just started stepping up this past season (Dworacyk and Hebert).
So let's at least wait to see how many are around in two years.

What happened with these guys? I know Ainsworth was a non qualifier but what happened to Lowe?

the Bob Wynne, Sam Forehand, Rob Sale, John Young, Jesse Harmon, Brad Smalling class will stand forever

2007. I have higher hopes for this class though

I would say 2001
Nate Livings (signed but wasn't academically eligible)
Rudy Niswanger
Andrew Whitworth
Ben Wilkerson
Edit: That entire class was great it set the foundation for the national title team.

Ainsworth left the team before this past season started. I remember that it seemed amicable at the time.

Elliott Porter could wind up being a contributor on the O-line before all is said and done. That would be a great story.

I know Ainsworth was a non qualifier

Didn't Ainsworth post here a time or two?
I know it was an OLman.

Never felt ainswortth was legit. I really like the potential of all the guys in this class. Will they all pan out? Unlikely, but they all seem to be maulers with a high roof.

The only one I question, MAYBE, is Lewis.
Was it the system? He LOOKS the part, but that can only get you so far. His 40 times were rumored to be slow as well.
Can he put on enough weight on to play TE?

He could be DeAngelo Peterson or Curtis Taylor IMO.
Or Ricky Dixon
