Kennedy was hunting with a .30-06-caliber rifle with iron sights and no scope. He fired the first time and missed the deer; a second shot rang out, but the deer continued at a full run. Kennedy was able to get off a third shot and brought down the massive buck

You would have not shot at THAT on the run? I woulda threw a lick at it from 500 yards offhand at dusk with a iron sighted 30-30

I actually held off on a 8-10 pt with a 18" spread cause he was running away from me....
Looking back on it, I should have busted his arse. Idk why I didnt, I had my scope on his spine (headed towards the vitals) and finger on the trigger... just didnt pull it.
I'd do it differently now

My biggest deer was shot while I was walking out after a morning hunt. Climber on my back. Does come hauling arse through the woods. I see giant tines following. I see that there will be a point where I'll never see the buck again. I aim there and wait. My shot hit the humerus bone and sent shattered bullet parts up into the lungs. Total luck.
