What do the experts on the OB use to remove cosmoline?

What type of gun are trying to take this off of... putting parts in boiling water also works. Wd40 also works.

A Mosin-Nagant... I think I'm gonna go the WD40 route.

I used lacquer thinner on my stock, and carb cleaner on the metal.

if you have no varsol, I would use wd-40...
