Suntiger's top five:
Gus Malzhan
Chip Kelley

Brian Kelly
Bobby Petrino
But it's hard to argue against these though:
Chris Ault
Chris Peterson
Steve Sarkisian
Bryan Harsin
Doug Marrone
Dana Holgorsen
Paul Chryst
Dan Mullen
Steve Spurrier
Gus Malzhan
Chip Kelley
June Jones

I don't think this has anything to do with the OP.

Malzahn

Here is a top 5 for you. Notice the common denominator(s):
1. Malzahn
2. Charlie Weis
3. Jim McElwain
4. Dan Mullen
5. Jimbo Fisher
All five have or will coach in the SEC. LSU will compete with all five on the field and/or recruiting. All five have been championship winning OC's.
Think the ongoing LSU OC search will be critical? I do. I also think this list demonstrates a formula for success when considering LSU's next OC...experience and success as a play caller.

Nothing personal TDs4LSU, but I had this argument with so many people during the Miles to Michigan saga. Malzahn did a great job with Todd last year who is on par with Jordan Jefferson with way less talent. If that's not enough, look at what he did at Tulsa. That is very impressive. Malzahn is one of the best offensive minds in the college game right now. How he doesn't have a head coaching job is beyond me.
