I've done it. If I have a new hunter with me who isn't a great shot, I suggest they do it. At least they get to say they shot something, especially on a slow day.
I also let my son (try to) do it. How do ya'll kill coots and gallinule if not on the water.
...and I do it myself occasionally

I have no problem whatsoever shooting on the water.
However, if there is someone without much experience, they get the shot. Never had anyone turn it down.

I do it. It always gets the other ones to fly. Plus it doesn't tear the breast meat up.

I don't think twice about it. They dumb enough to land, dumb enough to die.

I usually just try to shoot them in the head.
I have gotten a double on mallards that landed right behind me on a beaver pond.

Depends on a number of factors. How many ducks do i already have, what kind of duck it is, and how many other people are in the blind. I usually try and scare them up first though.

i always shot them on the water too, but i thought more people would disagree
seems to be a pretty overwhelming majority of us
eta: my buddy and i had an idea to make a sticker just like this one:
but instead of "take em", it would say "shhhhhh, let em land"

Hence the expression, " Get your ducks in a row."
I like the bumper sticker idea!

I do it...don't find it unethical at all, because frankly, they are pretty hard to kill on the water...I'd say more get away than get killed when I do it....I'd much rather shoot a duck in the air than on the water...

another reason why most prefer to shoot in the air rather than on the water would be less decoy fatalities

Generally I don't shoot them after they land. However, I told my son to shoot one on the water the other day; he only needed one more to get his limit. He failed in his attempt to scare the duck into flight, so I told him to pop her on the water. He did and we picked up the dekes and went home! These last two weekends may force me to revise my policy until next season.
