I have it down to 2 choices.
Benelli Super Black Eagle II 12ga Camo $1599
Browning Maxus 12ga Camo $1299
Which one should I get and why?

Both are great guns and you will not make a wrong choice, but go and handle each and see which one is more natural for you to shoulder, i was in the same situation choosing b/w maxus and the Beretta XPLOR, but the Maxus just felt better to me, I love it

Some features I like about the Maxus (not sure if the SBE has or not)
Magezine cut off switch for when you are in the blind and loaded up with 4 shot for teal and get some geese working, flip the switch take one out the chamber and load with BB
quick unload feature - press a button and it unloads thew magezine without having to put each round through the chamber, is also nice to change out the shells in the mag without unloading the whole gun
I like the position of the safety on the trigger guard and not a thumb switch (not sure about the SBE and again this is personal prefrence)

Remington 870 I know it wasn't one of your choices but it is the best IMO

Looked at both. Got the Browning Maxus Stalker DT - 2 3/4 - 3 1/2 for Christmas. Put a case of shells through it shooting skeet this weekend. Best shotgun I have ever shot. Two SBE II owners with me and they were very impressed. No recoil / Very Fast / Very Light

The SBE comes with 5 chokes and a case, does the maxus come with extra chokes? Case?

3 chokes. No case. Got a drake water resistant case(Very sweet)

Sbe. But I'm just a benelli fan. Been so since I bought a nova pump back in 99. The R1 with a nice leupold is next on my list.

Do both of them cycle through 2 3/4" shells good as well as 3 1/2"?

Yes it cycled both very well. On a side note I don't think you can go wrong with either. I wanted a shotgun for all occasions and narrowed it to the Maxus and SBE II (after extensive research). I liked the Maxus better. I believe it has the best all around appeal. Besides the SBE II is kind of trendy pick in the oilfield circles (kind of a sheepish bunch) I run in and I like to be a little anti-trend.

I looked at the SBE II, Xtrema II, and Maxus. Got the Maxus.
I've never looked back for one second. I LOVE my gun and it's never hung up on me. I've cycled 2-3/4", 3", and 3.5" all at one time. Not a single problem. It's the all-around gun for me.
ETA: I've known SEVERAL people complain about SBE II's inability to cycle 2-3/4" shells.

'Browning' and 'anti-trend' don't belong together.
I get what you are saying though. Again, you can't go wrong with any of the tripe B's: Beretta, Browning, and Benelli. Just get the one that fits you best.

what accessories did you get? Comes with Full, Intermediate, and modified choke?
Posted on 1/17/11 at 3:08 pm to crazytigerfan69
I'm a Browning guy, but the SBE II is a badass shotgun.

I wouldn't call them accessories really, but you get a chamber cable lock, shims to adjust your stock, and that's really about it.
Comes with Full, IC, and modified. All I needed at that point was a Browning Invector skeet choke.
I'm considering getting a top of the line modified choke since I use it so much for duck hunting.

I meant what extra accessories did you buy for the maxus, not what comes with it.

So, I already mentioned the Invector Plus skeet choke. I have a Browning camo sling and an Avery camo floating case. That's all.
