Our D seems to have trouble with a running QB. Playing Oregon the first game means that he has more time to come up with a gameplan for stopping them. Positive for us.

Defenses always seem to be ahead of offenses in the first few weeks of the season. I think that plays directly into our hands.

Oregon's only loss last year was Boise in the 1st game of the season. Auburn's closest game this year was Clemson in week 1.

I guess.

There are hardly any positives about playing this game.

Oregon also won't know what kind of offense LSU will run assuming that Mettenberger is the new QB and also a new OC coming in.

Positives of playing Oregon in week 1:

LSU will be ranked top five just behind Oregeon and will be the marquee matchup of the week

Playing at Cowboy Stadium which people have come back raving about

Texas recruiting

SOS for the computer polls

Yeah, you're right. There's hardly any positives.

You have to be kidding? I can't think of a negative. Hell, even losing in week one doesn't knock LSU out of the NCG picture. A win vs Directional U. does little.

Only reason we went to the nc with 2 losses in 07 was because of the vt game. Playing Oregon could do the same next season.

Playing a quality opponent in the first game of the season and winning will affect the rest of the season! Who do you think we should play, McNeese St.? Com on man!!

Scheduling this game, which will have the draw like an early season BCS bowl game, will help put the spotlight on the program and help make LSU a national school. Playing Directional U. does nothing of the sort.

This game just helps us build on the momentum we have going into the offseason right now. High-profile opener against the BCS championship runner-up on a national stage. We win and LSU is No. 1 or 2 afterwards. I expect a no. 3 or 4 ranking to open the season.

NOT SO FAST. O had a good club no doubt but auburn's qb was clearly hurt and not nearly as mobile because of it. O took chances on trick plays and fourth downs feeling they were overmatched and it still didnt work. Better stay in the pac 10 cause the sec is tuff.

Victory will likely propel LSU to #1?

Auburn seemed to take away Thomas' will to run. He's not a huge running threat anyway like Newton, Tebow and other QBs recently. Hell, even Miss State's QBs run more. Whatever Auburn did was effective.

Chavis will probably just use the Auburn blueprint for this game. There is plenty of time to prepare so I think LSU kicks the shite out of them.

The build up to the game will be epic, plus our players will be extra motivated this offseason. I just hope our players make a smooth transition under the new OC.
