How can you lose your best recruits a month out of signing day to Ole Miss who is coming off a sweet 1-7 record in the SEC and making staff changes in the process?

Does anyone know if Singleton has grade issues?
I was told that today, but could be sour grapes from a ST fan..

That is the thing - some didn't even visit yet.
They go 9-4 and blow out Michigan in their bowl game, so they should have the momentum over Ole Miss for sure.. ESPECIALLY on WR's, since Mullen's offense will throw it to them, while HDN's tendency of shutting it down and trying to shorten the game will be full on with his drop in talent from departure of Orgeron's players....

Just doesn't make a lot of sense..

1.) Starkville

2.) MSU

3.) They don't have great recruiters on their staff

Seems a couple of those commitments were a bit surprising to begin with. I don't think the MSU fans are shocked.

Florida fans did say Mullen was a lazy recruiter.

LSU would be more than happy to take CJ Johnson off their hands too

Well, they lost CJ when Diaz left... but, Brassel and Singleton to Ole Miss, and likely Morrow to us after his visit this coming weekend doesn't have anything to do with Diaz you wouldn't think.
But, they had another guy or two go to ULL as well..

Maybe Mullen does suck as a recruiter. He's got kind of a strange attitude anyway, and if he thinks he can sit back at Miss St and they will just come - he's fooked. He's not at FL anymore.

Some assistants are the glue that holds a recruiting class together. Without Frank Wilson, there would be at least 4-5 decommitments.

Brassell isn't committed, and is visiting Alabama this weekend.

I am a bit surprised as well. If you are going to recruit well at Miss State you have to be a worker. Perhaps Mullen got bogged down with bowl prep and trying to keep his staff together. Miss State could not afford to have disruptions and they have had some. Keep in mind not only did he lose his top defensive assistant to Texas but he also lost his top offensive assistant to ULL. Hence the loss of the big time defensive recruit (Johnson) and the loss of the big time offensive recruit (Singleton).

Yeah, I know he's not committed to Ole Miss, but he's told the coaches he's coming - so I just threw him in there with Singleton. The main point is that he's just f'n dropped MS ST...

Ole Miss is also convinced they will land Whitehead too...

Did he actually get any other job offers this year? It seems like Florida actually hired Muschamp without ever talking to Mullen and you never heard his name mentioned for any other jobs.

ole miss has always shown the ability to get in state commitments late in the game when it doesn't make any sense whatsoever. It has been the same way under their last three head coaches. Draw your own conclusions.

They are Mississippi State.

Any kid who doesn't consider MSU his home school and is actually evaluating places is going to have a very hard time choosing MSU.

Ole Miss, as pathetic a season as they had and as consistent of a loser that they are, make MSU look Mickey Mouse when it comes to the city and facilities.
