No one is suggesting that he should have said anything like that. But there are ways to say that the guy you hired is the best guy for the job without denigrating other people with that "all that glitters is not gold" and "things you uncover about people" crap.
An highly compensated AD at a prestigious university ought to have the language and diplomatic skills to figure out how to do that. It can only be assumed, therefore, that the AD fully intended to trash Miles and/or Harbaugh.

I fully agree. That was class-less. But I can only hope he wasnt saying those things about Les Miles or Harbaugh. Maybe it was in reference to one of the other unnamed coaches he met with. Either way it was bad taste.
