If Crowton Goes, Does J Lee Follow?

My first impression is "Oh hell no". But as I look at it, it might make sense to JL if he's planning to leave anyway. If he's looking for the opportunity to start, wouldn't he have the best chance of doing that with Crowton? GC's offense would be familiar to him, but new to everyone else, giving him a leg up. Thoughts?

Let me add, that personally I hope JL stays.

Also let me add (for those that are unaware) that if JL graduates this May, then he could transfer to another BCS school under the right circumstances.

No, I think Lee knows hes not going to be playing football in the next level.

Lee is going into his senior year and has already burned his redshirt. The only place he can play would be second tear ball at mcneese or something.

It wouldn't make sense for Lee to go anywhere. He's at a good school and is near graduating. He won't make it to the next level and will probably want to just get a degree from a fantastic school rather than go to a smaller one to play ball.

I agree he's not likely to play at the next level, but that doesn't mean he doesn't want more playing time at this level. ...And as I said, he could go to a BCS school for grad school if he graduates in May. For example, he could go to Maryland.

He's unlikely to go to Maryland. Maryland has a good young QB in Danny O'Brien-- ACC Rookie of the Year.

I was merely using that as an example to demonstrate that he wasn't limited to McNeese St. and their brethren.

Ok...I thought you meant does he follow Crowton to MD, if that's where Crowton ends up.

A new OC with a new system puts all three QBs at the same point in competing for the starting job. Lee may still leave, but a new OC is his best chance at becoming a starter again. My guess is he would stay and finish up at LSU.

GumboMaker is right that it would be very difficult for Lee to move ahead of Danny O'Brien at Maryland, even if the graduate school exception were applicable.

There has been lee transfer threads since the beginning of his rs fresh year. The dude has stuck it out, battled his arse off, and clearly busted his arse bc he looks much better than when he came. No reason to think he'd go anywheres else to play besides LSU

Lee might get a fair shake and some training from the next coach that could put him too the next level. Even as a backup role.

Why would we want him gone? Having four scholarship quarterbacks on the roster is a good thing, especially considering we want one to redshirt in Rivers. Injuries happen all too often to do what we did this year again.

Why would Lee follow the coach that killed his career almost before it started?

Think you're giving Crowton too much credit. Certainly at fault to an extent but it's not as if Lee helped himself either. Four years later the guy still can't stop throwing off his backfoot into coverage if any pressure is put on him.

Nope, cause if we get a new OC, Jefferson might not fit the new system well giving J Lee and Mett a better shot of taking his spot.

So it could work agaisnt JJ as much as anything else that would occur with a new OC
