athletics isn't hurting for money. the academic side has always taken money. people still have money around here and the LSU athletic fund isn't going to dry up over 1.25m esp spread out over what would be 5 years

They're taking more than they previously did to subsidize their own cuts, which are far worse than anything they've realized in forever.

Maybe all of this contract negotiating from LSU has been to negotiate him out insead of keep him. Plausable.
