I havent been on the Rant in a month and i'm sure this has been discussed at legnth. But I wanted to get into some conversation about it and see everyones opinion and or/if it has changed since the bowl game.

I support Les, always have, I think he is a good coach and recruiter. He keeps coordinators around too long and that hurts him and he isnt the best at clock management. Two negatives that stand out to me. But I think the things he does good outweigh the negatives.

People from Louisiana, WE are crazy. I openly admit that. Im sure most of you would agree. Les is crazy, I admit that, im sure most of you agree. Thats part of the reason I think its a good fit.

Also this recruiting class is a monster of a class. A coaching change right now would be devestating to it imo. We are bringing in a good bit of kids from out of state and I think losing Les would seriously put a hurt on the overall class.

And I cant help but think about Miami. Everyone called for Larry Cokers head because he was an idiot and a terrible coach and he only won because of Butch Davis' recruiting. Im not saying Les is Coker, bc I think Miles is a much better coach, but the situation is similiar. Miami was still a powerhouse under Coker. What have they been since? We have 4 of our 6 11 win seasons under Miles. I could easily see that taking a dive if Les gets canned and we bring in someone who cant keep the ball rolling. It is not a definite that we can bring in someone that atleast maintains what Les is doing. If you think that is a guarantee, then you are fooling yourself.

I'll admit, I did waver on Les a little when he was sticking with JJ while JL was playing better, but have always thought he did a great job. I've questioned GC's offensive play calling, and have held CLM responsible for allowing him to coach the offense to bottom 10th percentile production. Of all the names I've seen thrown out there to replace CLM, no one has proven to be absolutely better than CLM.

A good analogy. Another one is the post Cholly Mac era at LSU - coaching instability for 20-some years, with a short break under Arnsparger. I see the same potential if we manage to run CLM off to Michigan.

Look, you're either brain-dead or lying if Miles' coaching style has not left you frustrated or questioning him from time to time. I also think you're lying if you say at no point you have ever wondered, "man, if only we had coach XYZ here this shite wouldn't happen."

However, that's different from truly endorsing his dismissal or sitting there on Jan 10, 2011 and saying "good riddance to Miles if he goes because we'd be better off without him."

If you want Miles gone, it's only because you have a personal problem with the guy. You can't honestly think him leaving would be better for the program. You just can't.

1. The Past. His record, though not perfect (FYI no one is) is damn strong, and the best in the history of the school.

2. The Future. We have what, 17 returning starters and are are poised to make a serious MNC run this year and in less than a month are likely to sign the best of many great recruiting classes.

If Les leaving means that Alleva and TAF give the job to Bo, without seeking the more qualified and/or higher upside HC candidate.

Mainly due to familiarity, and a notion that they can work with him, heavy-handing his staff and support personnel, then I wholeheartedly agree..it would be bad for us.

BP would be a concession hire, to attempt save face to the fans(whom here on TD..seem more against such a hire), media, etc..in saying "hey, we hired a standing HC, one from a namebrand school, a winner that projects to Saban and Miles-esque success at an LSU, with all it's talent"

Saban & Miles recruiting >>>>> Pelini

Saban & Petrino X&Os >>>>>> Pelini

Mack Brown & Sarkisian totally undressed Pelini

John Chavis SEC Defense skins-on-the-wall >>>> Pelini

Wait and see, then support that coach. If you are old enough remember when LSU hired Saban. Everyone said "What". Cause LSU had beat him in the Independance bowl. Then we hired Myles and again people said "what". So whom ever they get stand behind him.
