It is the same moose. My roommate's friend originally put the pictures on his Facebook page along with the story details. He later removed the details because he didn't want to encourage people to go trophy hunting for it. Whoever was sending the email passing along the images got most of it right - just not the location.

Tall moose can stand about 7 feet at the shoulder. Have never seen one taller so that provides some scale.
Trees throw me though because Alaska doen't have pine, except in Muskeg. We have spruce so its difficult to tell where it is.
