if i wasn't a terrible shot, we would have probably had double the amount of kills.....and a couple geese

i'm very out of practice when it comes to in flight birds

even though i'm a terrible shot right now it still beats a great shot not being able to hunt!

ETA: 2 decoys bit the dust as well....for now......some silicone and they should be back to normal soon

I call that duck a dogris as well, but arent they a scaup...not a ringneck, that is what I call a blackjack.

Or maybe I am using blackjack wrong.

I just know if they got a blue gray bill, I call them a dogris. And I think they make a fine gumbo or wraps.

being that i'm just getting into the duck hunting game, i think i'm going to take 3 of the teal and make a nice gravy with them

my wife doesn't eat them, so it's more for me!!

Yeah, the scaup/dos gris/blacjack are the same thing. The ringneck looks the same to me in flight, but once you get them back in the blind you see a stripe on the bill. The problem is that the dos gris has a limit of one and the jacks have a limit of 6.

I try not to kill them either, but have been taking a few lately on the slow days. Pain in the arse to clean.

At least they are easier to hit than the curve ball teal

if we knew what they were, we would have let them fly...they lit right outside our decoys so it was a little too far to tell exactly what species they were

my seven year old talked me into shooting one on the water yesterday (right outside the dekes) since we didn't have anything in the blind yet

Turns out, we have been screwing this up all along. Google ring-neck duck and taste. He is a vegan that many consider as good an eating duck as anything.

It's hard to beat the taste of a ringneck

I think they even confuse themselves. A diver that only eats vegetation and flies with dos gris...shame on them

I could swear my dad and i went through the trouble of picking a few and they were terrible. I know they were not scaup. Tigerfoot and I passed over 100 the last 2 seasons.
