How many of you were wanting jimbo gone? i remember a lot of posters on the rant griping about jimbo and was excited to see him gone. Then a lot of cheering for crowton and the offense in 2007. Now, it's back to wanting crowton gone.
i'm not saying i think he should stay. i'm just curious as to who it is that wanted jimbo gone and if you want crowton gone. is it the same people?

I don't think it's healthy for a program to have a coach for too long. I liked Jimbo, but it was time for him to go. Hell, I liked John Brady but it was time for him to go as well.
Every coach wears out their welcome, especially if they are underachiving. Look at Greg Schiano. Once a savior, now people are looking to run him out of town.

you're right
there was GRIPING about fisher
people didnt think he was using all of our talent to the best of their abilities, but the offense still moved the ball 1000 times better than this offense
with crowton we're not griping, with crowton we're screaming from a rooftop that the guy cant develop QBs

ok, i get it. however, it sounds like it really doesn't matter who the o.c. is, people aren't going to be happy. (i'm not taking a shot at you, i'm just trying to understand).
i follow and watch a lot of college football. i notice every year it's different o.c.'s, offenses, teams, ect. at the top of offense. if you want the top guy, that guy changes every year. this year it's holgerson.

Very true. I loved what Jimbo was able to do from '01-'04, but it was just his time to move on. Crowton on the other hand hasn't really utilized the talent he has, mostly due to quarterback play.
This all goes back to the question though... Who is running the offense, Crowton or Miles?

I will admit it. I wanted Jimbo gone.

Ironically, Jimbo's 2006 offense was the highest ranked offense we've had this decade.

A lot of people lost faith in Jimbo after the 2006 Auburn game. I really didn't mind Jimbo, but I was annoyed at his tendencies to get ultra conservative against good defenses.
And there is a legit reason to wanting Crowton gone. This offense has been just downright pathetic for 2 years in a row now. It was never this bad under Fisher, hell even under fricking McConnell in 1999, the offense wasn't this bad.

Really? I would have thought that '01, '03 or '07 would have been the highest. What ranking is that by the way, total, scoring, yards?

lmost as common as the gripes about Jimbo was the complaint that Saban was holding Jimbo back.

2005 - #56
2006 - #11
2007 - #26
2008 - #55
2009 - #112
2010 - #87

Jimbo was vanilla. I wanted Jimbo gone because he was ultra-conservative against good defenses, as some posters have pointed out. I remember if it was more than 3rd and about 6 I never felt like we even attempted to pick it up. We played two downs and then 3rd was just a set-up for a punt. I wanted a more aggressive offense.
Enter Gary Crowton. Who was the tutti-fruiti to Jimbo's vanilla. I believe he is 10x the play designer that Jimbo was. Crowton's weakness is knowing when to call them, developing players, and utilizing talent. He seems to run a play that works, then never run it again. His decisions have baffled me for 3 years now. However, he does gameplan extremely well and I feel he knows how to expose a defense better than Jimbo. But Crowton out-thinks himself in his effort to out-think the opponent.
I would settle for a chochlate/strawberry offensive coordinator. Heck, I'd say cut crowton's pay in half and hire someone to call plays based on the talent that crowton drew up.

see how stats can be. ranked higher in the nation in 2006 but in 2007, the offense was better.
The offensive school records set under Crowton in 2007 include: points in a season (541), points per game (38.6), touchdowns scored (64), rushing TDs (35), passes attempted (442), passes completed (256), total yards (6,152), total plays (1,054) and first downs (316). LSU also scored at least 40 points a school-record seven times in 2007 as the Tigers posted a 12-2 overall mark.

About 99.9999% of the ranters show hate and dislike for everything about LSU.....sad....
Posted on 1/4/11 at 2:03 pm to Bobby Moore
LSU is not running Crowton's offense LSU is running Les Miles' offense.
