Now own Two XBOX 360s but only one game library

Long time lurker, first time poster...
So, the kiddos got a new Elite for Christmas and we now have one in the main room and one in their room. Naive me thought that maybe we could play together on our separate consoles via System Link, which would be possible if I owned two copies of each game we wanted to play. I don't want to invest in purchasing a duplicate game library, so I started looking at other options which has me hella confused.
First, I don't want to crack open either the new or the old XBOX and swap out parts, flash ROMs, or anything else of that nature. Second, we purchase our games so I'm not looking for some sort of Limewire/Frostwire/Torrent site that offers hacked games with a caveat that I'd have to spoof my IP address through 20 countries across 5 continents to not get banned when playing XBL.
I've checked some other sites which offer software which seems to be legit, but there appear to be quite a few of them all offering the same thing. Since this is the gaming board, and not the OT or rant, I figure I can get some decent advice from fellow gamers.
What's the best way to make a copy of a game you've already purchased so that you can play the same game across two xbox systems on the same LAN?
TIA

I don't own an XBOX, but I would imagine this isn't something Microsoft would allow. If you could do it on a LAN, than anybody with a little know how could figure out how to do it over a WAN as well.

Tate I've seen a lot of questions on the gaming board and this one has me absolutely stumped. I've got to say that I've never thought about this. I know Pevy and his brother may both have the XBOX so I think he may be your only hope here. Or Stout since he just generally knows everything.

Even if you were to burn a game, since you said you found software, I'm 95% sure you would still need a modded xbox to play it.

Thanks for responses to this point. We own two copies of Halo 3 and it works flawlessly, but I really don't want to go down the road of buying two copies of the latest game at $50-$60 a pop if there are other legal options.
Using a MP3 analogy, if I purchase or d/l a MP3 from a site not named iTunes, I can replicate that MP3 on my phone, burn to CD, etc. and legally enjoy that MP3 on a number of devices. As long as I don't redistribute the MP3, I'm legit.
There are sites like Game Copy Wizard and Game Copy Pro which says it can be done, but I suspect there's some fine or hidden print somewhere that you need to have X brand burner, flash your XBOX firmware, and other stuff that just makes me leery to go it alone. If it works and others have used it successfully, that's great and I'd like to weigh the pros and cons. For example, if you did have to flash the firmware, do you have to do it again after the next XBOX update? I'd imagine I'm not unique in this situation and someone has already crossed this bridge and would have some information to share.
I haven't reached a point of desperation or anything, just a bit disappointed that you can't natively share a game across two systems in the same household without having to purchase two copies of the same game.

You need to buy another copy. You can't play cracked/burned copies without modding your XBox that I know of.

And if you were to ever get on Xbox Live and they detect this...they can do a console ban. It's not worth it to try to play anything but purchased games. I have friend with 2 sons that play and he usually has to buy 3 copies of every game that comes out.

Games always have, and probably always will, work this way. I can't think of too many games that you can play on a LAN/WAN that don't require an individual copy per box.
ETA: Talking about any platform (PC, PS3, XBOX...)

Only one I can think of is the original Starcraft.
You could install a slave copy on another machine for LAN play.

Games are an entirely different animal.

Well if you were to get on Live with a modded xbox you run the very high riskl of getting your account banned. MS is constantly cracking down on modders with their updates. And to be able to get online you have to update.

Tate, my only advice to you would be to wait a month or so after a game releases and buy two used copies from ebay, Amazon or a GameStop. That way you may pay $70, but you'll get two discs out of it (two used copies at $35/a piece for a relatively new release).
That's the caveat to having two systems and wanting to play locally over System Link in one household.
ETA: I'm not into opening up these machines at all, so I'm of no use there.

Thanks everyone!
I'm not interested in mod'ing anything so looks like I'll need to go the dual purchase route if I want to simultaneously play the same game across systems.

isn't there a way to load the game onto the hard drive of the 360? i thought i saw this option the other day while playing around with BBC2-Vietnam.
what if you loaded the game on the hard drive on one, and used the disk on the other 360? if it is possible, that is....

beco, your 360 still needs the disc to start up the game. After that, it runs off the HD.

If you eject the game after you start playing it, will it continue to run? My xbox is rrod so I can't try it.

Its just like the music industry...there are millions of people pirating music but only a few actually get sued for it.

No, the game will exit as well.
