As long as we don't give up big plays, we should be fine.

I have seen A & M play and you are likely right about Gray being underrated. A very good back. Doesn't A & M run the zone read a lot?

The run the zone read some, but not a lot. Maybe a few times a game. They are more of a Pro-Style offense. They are in shotgun most of the time. Sherman likes to spread out the defense. They rarely just line up and run at you. They like to take advantage of over aggressive defensive ends (see Levar Edwards in Ole Miss game) by running a lot of draws, delays, and sprint draws. This is the majority of the types of runs they do.

Christine Micheal is out til next spring with a broken leg. Gray has stepped up in his absence though with consecutive 100+ rushing yards in the last six games. 200+ rushing yards against Texas.

Definitely debatable. Christine Michael is out with a broken leg and lots of Ags were bummed about it, but Gray has stepped up big-time. When they split carries it appeared to me that Michael would attack the line faster than Gray, and Gray kept his eyes open for holes or seams. With Michael out I think Gray has taken on a bit of Michael's running style and has attacked the line faster than he did in the past. This aggression and his ability to identify and slip through tight spaces has contributed to the stats we've seen from him in the 2nd half of the season.

Wasn't Michael recruited heavily by LSU?

I wouldn't say Michael was heavily recruited.... Because he begged for an offer and never got one.

I've seen A&M play twice this year. To say Gray is not the best RB on the team is definitely debatable. I know A&M would love to have them both but once Gray got his opportunity, he looks extremely impressive.

Texas's problem was their offense. Their defense was still good. #7 in total defense this year. That just tells you how crappy their offense was.

I agree 100%. If Michael were healthy I'd have a better idea of how to judge. As it stands, they were both studs while they split carries, although Michael had more totes and a higher average, while Cyrus put up more receiving yards out of the backfield.

Tannehill is great at selling fakes - putting defenses on their heels at times - which I believe has enhanced our rushing attack. We're also starting 2 freshmen tackles who had some struggles at the start of the season but have really come into their own this latter part of the season. Michael never had the benefit of Tannehill at QB or a line that was in the zone, so as an Aggie football fan I absolutely love what Gray has done, but I also have to wonder what Michael could've done.

If you're into starting threads that get a lot of posts, go post that on TexAgs. It will start a three week long debate.
