Got a group of about 5 going camping for the night. We are leaving from NOLA Saturday morning and only staying one night. We are thinking either Fountainbleau or Bogue Chitta. Any comments?

What you camping in? and what do you want to do?

Bogue Chitto is HUGE with miles of bike trails through the hills and everything is very spread apart. Down side is that all roads are limestone and the dust can be aggravating. Also has 11 ponds on the property and riverfront beach access.(i didn't make it to the beach when I went so don't know how it looks)

Fountainbleau has a dirty beach but you are close to a nice easy bike trail. and very close to NOLA

Just throwing up a tent. Bringing our mnt bikes and fishing poles. Maybe a state park with a bike trail.

I guess the question is whether it is worth the longer drive to Bogue Chitta?

I think it would be if you are looking to go somewhere quiet and do some biking.

I would also suggest staying at the bottom lands loop as it will be closer to the day use areas.

State Parks are nice. Chicot, Sam Houston. I also recently read about one between Laffy and Henderson.

Kisatchie forest. Either Kisatchie Bayou or Azalea Trail.

You may want to re-schedule. Front coming through Sat. means T-storms and skeeters early saturday, with plunging temps later on Sat. pm, with about 30 mph winds and high humidity following.

39 degrees with high humidity and 30 mph winds is cold and no fun. I'd rather have 29 degrees, low humidity with light and variable winds.

Very pretty area. Went there monthly in 2009 for work.

That name didn't sound familiar so I went find the one I came across.

Lake Fausse Point State Park, Lafayette
