Mettenberger and Petrino

Just had an Arkansas fan pop in on my celebration status on facebook to tell me Mettenberger would be fourth string at Arkansas. Didn't Petrino try pretty hard to recruit him? I just wanted to confirm before I blasted back.

Yes, Petrino tried hard to recruit him. Mett would have started there too

lol @ 4th string.
would have been a pretty good competition between mett and mallets back up though.

Arkansas fans are jealous. They want the status that LSU has enjoyed the last decade.
They have never been anywhere and it shows in there fan base.

Mett would probably be behind Wilson and Mitchell yes...
We went after Mett for another reason though we would have taken him no doubt

Only person he would be behind.

he might have been behind wilson.
no way hes behind mitchell too. if you really think that you are pretty delusional. my guess is had he committed to arky you would be ecstatic about the great qb competition that would be to follow.

Don't think so...I'm gonna bet Mitchell is our starter next year

He might walk into LSU and take the starting job but not at Arky. As stated, I believe Mitchell to be our starter next season...we will see though

I doubt you really know

You've got to be kidding. Wilson is legit. Mitchell has yet to do anything.

This is one case where trying to **** over your division rival, who has no QB for the foreseeable future, is a brilliant move in strategy. It didn't work out for Arky, and typically I am against that sort of play, but in this case it was a good attempt.
LSU is a probably in the national title game with a legitimate QB--I think pretty much everyone recognizes it was the only missing piece.

Of course because Mallett is our starter...Mitchell is a RS freshman and his ability is through the roof.

Disagree here. Wilson and Mitchell are legit. He'd be 2nd string at best.

That's all it was. That's the only reason why Bama offers a few kids every year.

You make it sound like we've done something dirty?? There are 3 players on that team we are after and Mett wasn't #1 on that list. He might be #3

It is a known fact that schools will take marginal players so that they do not go to other SEC schools and come back to haunt them at a later date.
Arky doesn't have much to gain from Mett as a player bc they already have QBs. However, LSU has everything to lose since they have none. Opportunity cost.
ETA: I am saying I approve of the effort, fyi.

I wouldn't say Carradine and Kennard are marginal...would you?
