shiiiite...this is going to be one long drawn out game then between those two

Special Teams?? what about osu's??

We are pretty solid everywhere but returns coverage. holy fricking A, I just close my eyes and hope for the best. Opposing teams have started out with great field position quite a bit, and this is where I have seen the greatest improvement in our defense.

You really haven't watched many tOSU football games then. Our coverage team sucked absolute arse for a majority of the season, but it's been pretty decent ever since Dorian Bell came back from his 2nd (possibly 3rd?) concussion on the season. Our return game has probably been the best it's been since Teddy Ginn era, which will never be passed.

Our FG kicker is pretty reliable, but the dude who kicks off is an absolute pansy. He usually kicks it to the 5 and that's being generous.

Yep. Field goals are pretty solid. Kick/punt coverage is bad. Return game is pretty good.

No. I haven't. There is usually an SEC or Big 12 game on at the same time one is aired down here. Those take precedence, of course.

As far as returns for us, we are missing Dennis Johnson sorely, who is out of for the season due to the freak bowel injury he sustained when landing on the ball earlier in the season.

That's nothing. You'll more than likely get J.B. Sugartits false starting more than once on the same series. Dude's an idiot.

Cut J.B. some slack. Dude has sucked it up and played all season with a serious foot problem. He's probably endured more pain on the field this season than most of us in a lifetime. I'll give up a false start or so a game for a guy that gives what he has.

That's cool if he's giving it all he's got, but his false starts kill the offensive momentum sometimes. If he's hurting that bad, just put in Norwell. It's not like we lose anything productivity wise between the two IMO.

I was pissed the Bucks didn't offer one of my good friends from high school. First team Division 1 in HS and they chose Basil over him. Doing pretty well on the kickoffs for the Bobcats of Ohio U now.

Sorry for my discourse.

I think there's like a waiting list of Ohio State fans, and every week, Chicken allows one more to join the board. This is starting to get crazy.

You might want to modify your thread title. Arkansas fans consider the term "Arky" to be offensive.

Mallett is by far the best QB we've played this year, and probably the best in the past two. Our pass rush took a step back from last year and we just love playing soft zones, so he'll probably pick us apart.

It'll be interesting to see if OSU can contain Arkansas offensively, who is ranked 3rd in passing offense.

Ohio State has faced 4 teams that are ranked #100 or lower in passing offense. Let's put this into perspective for the SEC fans...those teams are within 5 ypg of LSU in passing offense.

Marshall - #64
Miami - #33
Ohio - #105
E Mich - #103
Illinois - #115
Indiana - #13
Wisconsin - #74
Purdue - #111
Minnesota - #57
Penn State - #52
Iowa - #45
Michigan - #35

It's all about pressure up the middle on Mallett. If he sees pressure and can't step up he becomes average. If he has all day to throw Ohio State is in a world of trouble.

The Arkansas forums are interesting. They only talk about Ryan Mallett and their offense. There is ZERO talk about the defense and no talk about the Ohio State offense. They seem to think that a "tale of the tape" consists of SOS only. Their offense is going to be difficult to manage but they'd better be worried about what the Ohio State offense is going to do because their defense IS suspect.

Hogs are the only team in the country this year with a 3000 yard passer, 1000 yard rusher, and five 500 yard receivers. Oh, and of course DJ Williams our tight end-1817 receiving yards.

See what I mean?

Let's look at defenses.

Arkansas on average faced the 55th rated offense in the nation.

Ohio State on average faced the 63rd rated offense in the nation.

When you look at the two defenses rankings it becomes pretty clear that Ohio State clearly has the better defense.

But wait. It gets better. Arkansas opened the season with Tennessee Tech the 79th rated offense in FCS which needs to be factored in.

Both defenses may be in trouble but the Arkansas defense may be in trouble. Ohio State's offense this year will be the second best offense they've faced and we all know what happened against the best offense they faced.

I'm not predicting a blowout but this will probably be one close football game and not what the Hogs fans imagine it will be.

dude...chill the frick out. lol. that was a response to a LSU FAN anyway.

According to your own posters your secondary is friggn awful and your punt/kick return coverage as well.

what's your point?? If you think that the caliber of teams you have faced this year versus us is comparable then by all means, compare our stats on both sides.

You haven't and there is no arguing that. Your silver and red goggles are on too damn tight if you think so.

Want something defensive?? Here

total defense is ranked 36th (thank you Auburn or it would be much higher)

Key players you SHOULD know about but don't?

Jake Bequette-DE-5th in the SEC in sacks-2nd team all SEC

Tramain Thomas-S-2nd team SEC-5th in SEC for interceptions, 71 tackels and blew LSU the frick up.

Jerry Franklin-LB and defensive leader on the field

Everyone THINKS Arkansas' defense isn't good this year b/c of 1)last year 2) Petrino is known to be an offensive guy and 3)the auburn game.
