I'm pulling for Auburn for the following reasons.

1. They're the better team. They're simply a better football team than little SC. It's a shame that in the West 11-1 wouldn't have been enough to win the division, but a mediocre Eastern Div team can lose three and be heads above the rest. To hell with SC, and Steve Spurriers obnoxious arse.

2. They beat us. It's better for us to say we lost to the eventual NC and (gag) only one other game, than to say we lost to the winner of the Orange or Cap One Bowl.

3. At this point, they officially didn't cheat. What more do we need to know. Yeah, no one is ever as innocent as they proclaim, but people on the outside (you and I) rarely really know even half of the truth. Maybe the half that we don't know is mitigating or even (were this a real criminal case) exculpatory.

4. My most controversial point. If they cheated, it's not the kind of cheating that skews the playing field. It's not doping, paying off crooked refs, or anything of that nature. Auburn and Cam really are as good as they appear on the field. It's a real product. They really beat us, they really came back from a 24 point deficit to beat Bama in BDS, and they really are 12-0. Since Cam wasn't considering LSU, it's not like we really lost anything in the exchange anyway (were it proven true). If he was at Miss St., we'd probably still have two losses. Only one would be to St. instead of Auburn.

5. The hate on Auburn is unjustified. Some people seem to have a new found hate for Auburn, which proves to me that they are just haters on whomever the top dog is. I don't hate Auburn. I hated Tuberdouche (who didn't) but the program and its fans never bothered me. Compare them to Ole Miss, Bama, or Florida. Their arrogance doesn't even come close. And they don't shite on us everytime we're down--like the Bama fans everyone seems so in love with these days. They're actually some of the classiest fans I've run into. And Cam is a clown, but doesn't seem like that bad of a kid to me.

6. They have a better chance of smoking Oregon than anybody else in the SEC. If AU dominates Oregon, it will prove (once again) that we are, by far, the premier conference in CFB. I know the pro-SEC mantra has worn thin, but it truely is rational for us to pull for conference members. When AU dispatches Oregon, maybe there will be no question next year that an 11-1 SEC team is better than almost any undefeated squad in CFB. So Geaux SEC!

I'm interested in discussing this minority view with anyone willing.

I'm pulling for Auburn because I want the NC to remain in the SEC. Plain and simple...
It looks good for our conference.

My extreme dislike is justified. I can't pull for Auburn and could care less if the "SEC" wins another national championship.

No way do I pull for Auburn. After 4 years in a row of winning the MNC, is there really anyone questioning the dominance of the SEC? If so, 5 in a row won't make a difference. Plus, a win by South Carolina knocks the loud mouthed Hog fans out of the Sugar Bowl!!

Geaux Gamecocks!!

Well IF AU beats SC I think everyone one here would want an SEC team to beat a Pac 10 team, whether they admit it or not.

Disagree completely on this one. And my same argument can be made about the Reggie Bush deal.

Take two equal athletes and put them at different schools.

Have one worried about their parents losing a house, living in a car, having their dads church torn down, or any other crisis that lack of money brings.

Have the other one taken care of financially and all they have to do is worry about football.

How do you not think the second person has a huge advantage on the other one, or everyone else for all that matters. They may not have taken a drug to physically have an advantage, but they took money which relieved a lot of stress and worry which gave them a mental advantage.

Given his dad was steering his decision and recruitment, I don’t see how they ruled the way they did. I think they are creating huge problems down the line. Anybody can shop all schools but one and just have the kid say he knew nothing about it. But that’s my opinion.

That's why they play the game.

And they did it with a quarterback who cheated. Anybody who believes Cam didn't know what was going on isn't dealing with reality very well. Just because the NCAA hasn't been able to prove it (yet) doesn't mean the blindingly obvious didn't happen.

See 2. Just because a jury acquitted OJ, does that mean you'd let him babysit your kids? Date your daughter?

Maybe so. Doesn't mean you should pull for them. Just means you shouldn't hate them.

This, I think, is your real (and only) point. You just want the BCS title to stay in the SEC. I get it. But perhaps the SEC's claim to supremacy is actually better if the crystal balls in the SEC only reside at schools that won them honestly. I think the reputation of the SEC will suffer, not grow, if Auburn wins the thing. Therefore, I pull for South Carolina Saturday. I pull for Oregon in January.

I think it's honestly a bit of a stretch, but at least a valid point. A lot of these kids, especially the black kids, come from pretty similar backgrounds. Most of the "incentives" that have been proven over the last several years have not been life-changing. If Cecil Newton really got $180,000, I guess that's a decent bit of money. But I doubt that it really gave Cam the mental tools to play as well as he has. If all of the controversy swirling around him all year hasn't had that much of an appreciable impact, I don't see how his father having a renovated church could have. Still, it's a point.

Auburn can go frick themselves.

They cheated anyone that believes otherwise is living in a make believe world.

They have a DL that is the dirtiest in the game.

IMO, the only, ONLY, legitimate concern. However, the only major recruit (that we really, really wanted) that I think we've lost to the Aubbies in my cognizant lifetime was Trovon last year. They compete more with Bama and Georgia. We still have LA and East Texas pretty much on lock. And there is so much talent these days that schools like MissSt. and Arky are getting their fair share.

Of course, if Crowton remains, it won't matter. The "Crowton factor" automatically deducts two stars from every recruit.

I strongly disagree. I am convinced that when the smoke clears we will find that numerous Auburn players were getting paid. Now, how good would LSU be if we went out and cherry-picked 10 players from other schools? That definitely skews the playing field.

Anything Auburn wins is just going to be vacated anyway, and it is blatantly unfair to other schools to lose their chance at a NCG.
