From todays Advocate :

Asked a follow-up question about whether he wanted Crowton back as the offensive coordinator, Miles said “I’ve got to be real honest. I don’t want to talk about that.”

Doesn't Miles know we went 10-2, which means there are no problems?

Why would you fire a national-championship winning offensive coordinator after a 10-win season? You rantards are really something.

I know you're being facetious with that last comment, but you act as if everyone wants Crowton to stay and people are sticking up for him. In actuality, people stick up for Miles.

Not his useless OC.

Translation: "We'll we've sucked on offense for three years in a row, what do you think?"

Crowton is gone, Miles is just trying to soften the landing as he always does.

Because our Offense has been absolutely putrid since 2008.......

No QB development the past 3 years

Should I go on?

I just don't understand how anyone can be unhappy about a 10-2 record. Spoiled brats. Obviously all is well. After all, if Miles's teams were dysfunctional, there's no way we could win 10 games.

sarcasm off...people stick up for Miles b/c they are trying to cope with it. They know he's going to be here for years to come so they've convinced themselves that's a good thing. That's my latest theory.

So tell me how many coaches could finish with 10 wins with that offense handcuffing them. Not many.

Just have to...FIX. THE. GLITCH.

STFU. If we had just a competent OC this year we're in the SECCG asswipe.

Because for the second year in a row he finished at the bottom of the SEC in offense and ranked 90th out of about 120 D1 schools with probably the most talent.

Because he can't figure out how to get the most use out of Russell Shepherd.

Because he runs plays at the goal line that has a one receiver option to throw too and if that player is covered there is no where else to go with the ball.

Because his offenses have declined every year since the BCS Championship season.

How many more reasons do you want?

dumb theory

those who stick up for miles truly like him as a head coach. I suspect they are happy with 10-2 this year and "new years day" bowls in 3 of last 4 years (one of which was a national championship). If that had happened in the 90s we would've annointed the coach as the greatest ever.

In the six years of Miles so far, when has the team ever functioned smoothly? He has never had a better year record-wise than this one. In fact, both of his losses this year were better than the losses in 2007, so you could say this regular season was more impressive than that one.

In 05-06, Jimbo was to blame. In 07, in between the Florida game and the SECCG most of us blamed Miles for the terrible discipline on the team and underachieving despite having everything in our favor that year (then of course we became the 2-loss champs), in 08 it was Ryan P's and the Co-DCs fault, in 09/10 it's Crowton.
There's only one constant through all of that. Well, two constants. One is Les Miles and the other is a boatload of talent. Tons of talent + mediocre coach = sloppy team with a good W-L record, which is evidently enough for you guys to crown him king of the world.

I read the paper every morning and I can't recall reading that. I had a "WANT" to read something like that but I didn't read it. You got a link?

People were pissed about Jimbo under Saban too. Everything else in your post really can't be disputed either. We've managed to win a ton of games though so Miles has to be doing something right no?

People stick up for miles because he has produced results. His program overall has shown improvement over the last 3 years (ref. the 10-2 record you keep highlighting).

That being said, we need to continue the improvement. One way to do that is by evaluating the entire program to find places that need more improvement. Based on the offensive production/development the last 2-3 years, it is pretty obvious where one area of improvement can come.

I support Miles in his continuing effort to bring this program back to championship caliber. But he needs to do something soon to improve the offense.

I think he does more right than I've given him credit for in the past, and he does have a knack for winning when it doesn't seem like we've played well enough to win. I guess I'm just tired of watching them play the way they do. Yeah, I know, that's my problem.
