why i don't want to play texas a&m in the cotton bowl

#1- it's the cotton bowl; dallas sucks as a bowl destination
#2-our opponent has sucked for 10 years and is a very good team this year; beating us will put them on the national map
#3-i question if this is a good bowl for our players; they have to be disappointed and i just don't see how the coaches are going to get them pumped up about playing a team that has been irrelevant so long that our players aren't even old enough to know when they didn't stink.
#4-i can assure you, a&m will be as fired up as arkansas and they have a damn good defense. they have a DL ever bit as good as arky and they have a rush guy (miller) that is as good as fairly (close anyway).
these factors put us in a lose/lose situation. i hate to be a debbie downer put this seasons ending is really pissing me off. losing to arkansas and losing the sugar bowl, going to a sucky bowl playing an opponent gunning for us to establish their program's legitimacy and now i hear crowton may be staying.

This has to be a joke! The cotton bowl is a very highly regarded bowl and A&M is more than a worthy opponent and OUR COACHES BETTER BE ABLE TO GET THE GUYS PUMPED!!!

Our O-line will be fired up and ready to redeem them selves. Plus its hard to believe that a Big 12 defensive line will be a fast and strong as SEC ones.

i appreciate your comments. hope you're right, but i know you are not right about their DL. the big 12 has some damn good teams. they are not as good as the sec overall, but the maggies have beaten OU, UT and Nebraska this year. I know we CAN beat this team, but i see a mismatch of wills. add our OL's struggles and our QB struggles, i do not like this match up. i would much rather play Michigan State or another team that doesn't have an axe to grind with LSU. texas is a border state with La., just like ole miss and just like arkansas. they have just as much hate for us or more. anyways, it is what it is. i just think at 10-2 we deserve a better bowl and an opponent that is not "gunning for us". i hope our players don't feel the same as i do.

LSU lost to Arkansas. Does it suck? Yeah but we were dealt the hand we deserve. The Cotton Bowl is NOTHING and I mean NOTHING to be down on. Primetime game in Jerrys Palace, are you kidding?
And as for the players being hyped up and ready to play thats up to the damn coaching staff. They better be!

That is the biggest bunch of crap! Dallas is awesome and the cotton bowl is a great bowl! As far as them being a good team...what r u scared! U r a puss! Scared to play a hot team! I can assure u LSU will b pumped to play!!

At least they don't have (or use) a running QB. Taylor Martinez and Neb would have been a terrible matchup for LSU's defense based on the Auburn and Ole Miss games.

This didn't seem to stop Miles from being able to get his team ready to play Georgia Tech in 2008. That was a very similar situation to this one (GT had its best year in many years and was very good that year), except we sucked a lot more that year.
I, for one, am very excited that our rivalry with aTm could be renewed after a 15 year hiatus. As a kid, that game was the kickoff game to LSU football season every year; and I have some very fond memories that I will be excited to rehash if this comes to fruition. I don't really care if our current players were in diapers when we last played; they should get fired up to play anyone in any bowl, especially after the way they showed up in Arkansas.

yeah who wouldnt want to go to the bowl right before the national championship, in the recruiting hotbed of america and in front of millions of viewers. Wont be fired up you say? 4-1 in bowl games with miles with 4 blowout wins

This may well be true, but the A&M defensive line doesn't have to be stronger or faster than the LSU defensive line. It only has to be stronger and faster than your O line, and that's not outside the realm of possibility here.
