Young LSU fans are cracking me up... (on A&M)

Apparently they don't remember that LSU was irrelevant through 90's when A&M was 9th winningest program in the country.
Now that this natural rivalry may be rekindled, at least for a bowl game, Tiger fans that became fans post-2003 think that they are too good for A&M and entitled to much more.
This ignorance is a perfect reflection of how LSU fans are today. That is why the games in the 90's when LSU was average were louder and crazier, LSU fans don't realize how easy it is to let a program slip and fans have become spoiled, and expect a perfect season every year.
Better not overlook A&M, they have a balanced offensive attack and an ok defense, which is enough to beat LSU.
Its too bad that you younger people didn't get to experience this rivalry. This game is huge for recruiting and should be a great game.
For those of you bandwagon fans who joined the tiger fan base after they won the 2003 championship, every game is a big game and no matter who is coaching, you have a chance to lose.
By the way, A&M is expected to be ranked fairly high at the beginning of next season, they are only losing 2-3 starters. An LSU victory would be huge for recruiting and help with ranking to start next year.

ATM has not finished in the top 5 since 1956. That is a fact. I was in the stadium when Leland McElroy ran all over us. I remember the ATM days of Rodney Thomas blah blah. ATM is a garbage athletic program that tries to compete with Texas but never can.
Thanks for playing.

I'm in my 20's but unlike a lot of people on here, followed LSU football before I actually went to LSU.
It seems on this board that a lot of people only started liking LSU around the same time Toonces came out.

A&M is a garbage athletic program? The one that finished 6th in the Sears Cup Standings for 2009-2010?
Gawd Damn, you're right.

I guess you don't remember A&M going undefeated in 1994 and when they played LSU in 95 they were ranked #3.
Thank you for playing.

I like the idea of playing them in the cotton bowl, but to think aTm hasn't played little sister to oklahoma and texas for the past decade would be wrong.

A&M is going to be a good, well-coached team. Granted, they will be starting a lot of juniors & sophomores... but they have some serious talent on that roster.

Just messing with you don't worry. I'm an alumni also and I hope we play aTm. I think it would be great to renew the rivalry.

I'm not what you'd call a young LSU fan. I've been an avid fan since my student days back in the early/mid 80's. However I think the better more appealing matchup for LSU at this time would be Mich St in the Cap 1 bowl. It would mean more for the program to beat a team that only has one loss, is ranked in the top ten and has been highly ranked all year as opposed to a team that has been up and down but is now on a roll, quite capable of giving LSU fits because they are the underated upstarts. It would be a lose/lose situation. I think aTm could definitely beat LSU and it would just add salt to the wound of losing to Arky and further damage our national perception. If we beat them then its no big deal. The bigger better game for LSU is the Cap 1 bowl.

It would be, nobody can deny that. Auburn, historically, has played second fiddle to Alabama, but even on their down years we can't ever blow them off.
(This is not a statistical comparison of Auburn and A&M, just an example of schools that aren't historically controlling the state)

Yeah it's a series that we pulled out of and is actually more beneficial if we stay the frick away from A&M.Losing that game(in the past) is horrible for recruiting our hotbeds in the state of Texas. We essentially recruit the same area as A&M.It's no small secret that sense we've abandoned that series that our program, for the most part, has been better than A&M.
Here's hoping we smash em the Cotton Bowl.

I remember those days.
Is it still the 90s?
No?
Then shut the frick up.

Toonces has been around since 1992.

There are indeed some ignorant posters on this board. aTm has had some damn good basketball and baseball teams recently and have been solid in track also. The football team is on the rise and will be a tough match up for us.

Boh, you're right, we have.
LSU played little sister to everyone in the late 80s and 90s.
College Football is a cyclical thing due to coaching and recruiting wars.
Who wouldve thought Michigan, Florida State, Notre Dame and Washington would have had the decade they did?
USC sucked in the 90s, so did LSU, so did Texas. These things ebb and flow.
