CW13 vs PP7

I posted this question months ago and got raked over the coals for saying Corey Webster was a much better collegiate "Cover Corner." Peterson is a great athlete, but CW13 made a difference in playing against stiffest competition.

It's a lot easier to "make a difference" (which I guess you are meaning he got interceptions) when people throw it at you.
PP7 probably had less balls thrown his way than just about any starting corner in America.

I would agree. Travis Daniels however was much better than Mo Claiborne is at this point. He also had a senior safety that was smart. Unlike, Karnell Hatcher who is a walking liability. PP7 is by far the superior athlete though.

Webster was on a better overall defense IMO.

Webster made more plays than Peterson in his career, simple as that.
Peterson is a big time talent, and probably got thrown at a lot less than CWebb, but Webster made a lot more big plays over the course of his career, and I'm pretty sure his stats will back that up.
Statistically speaking, CWebb > PP7

There is no doubt that Peterson is one of the beat athletes in the nation. With that said, his defense has not been stellar of late. I may be wrong, but I feel as if has been playing to not get hurt in aspirations of being a high selection in the draft. He does not jump in and gang tackle like he was earlier in the season. To me, Mathieu has been the MVP on defense this year.

No way. Webster was a fantastic athlete who learned to play corner and made plays because of his athleticisim.
Peterson is the better "cornerback". That being said, he takes chances sometimes where he shouldn't. And you have to give him some credit for being our primary kick and punt returner plus the fact that not many QBs threw at PP the past two years.
I like Webster, but PP > Webster. And I'm a big Corey Webster fan. Always have been.

Umm, no. Claiborne is incredibly underrated and PP/Claiborne are the best duo on CFB right now. Behind them they have a Freshman that will probably win awards too. Claiborne gets zero hype compared to PP but he is a All-SEC CB right now...
Claiborne is also a True Sophomore who saw limited action last year. Daniels was good but Claiborne blankets people, I see it all the time in his games. Daniels was really exposed his senior year.

I agree.
Other than the UNC game, I can't remember Mo being in bad position much at all. He's an outstanding corner...

Watch the Ole Miss game. Got picked on during the 4th down plays. He's good, but has some work to do. Also, he was knocked out of the Alabama game which would have been a nice test for him on Maze/Hanks.

PP needs to learn how to bait QBs to throw the ball his way. Once he gets this down (as good old Verne would say), "WATCH OUT!!!!"

this. because they hardly threw at Peterson.

one day people will realize that PP was great! When they don't throw at you, that is a good thing. When they do 9 times out of 10 they didn't make the catch.

I agree with you.
Webster was less hyped and was more productive.
Peterson is a great athlete and talent but Corey was more productive.

So you're saying Mo. Claiborne is bad. I thought he played very good this year for somebody in his first year to play corner.

Do you know why he was more "productive"?
