leach points up points and yards. something we havent had in a while at LSU. I still want to know how him being oc hurts our d.
i just dont see it unless it comes down to a scout squad not being able to run the sec team os or some shite.

he was the head coach at tech that has nothing to do with him being the oc at LSU. at tech he ignored d. at LSU its his job to only worry about o if we hire him. so now how will he cause us to have a bad d?

more risk is put into the offense which forces the defense to have to clean up any messes. Gives them less time to rest and may produce more short fields than you'd like.

solid point but our o already gives them no time to rest and puts pressure on them because they can't score. so we had a little more risk for turnovers which we already do enough of anyways but we had way more points. it allows our d to have a little more room for messing up.
like i said we probably give up a few more points per game but with a better offense thats not really a big deal.
this point was a lot better than mot just saying have you seen his d's at tech.

I'm still laughing at the people on here who think hiring Leach as an OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR makes us worse on D. We have a top 5 Defense in the country. Imagine what they could do if our O didn't have 3 and outs every drive?
Imagine if our offense didn't throw 9 picks and 4 TD's.
Leach would have no control over the D if he were here. He won't be the head coach people, and Chavis is still here.
And just to humor you. Would you rather have top 20 D and top 20 O or top 5 D and 100+ O?
Imagine if our D wasn't constantly playing to prevent the other team from winning.

Do not want his butt anywhere near that team. Do not need trash like that around LSU because we have been the cleanest program and I want to keep it that way!
Posted on 11/29/10 at 12:25 pm to ForeLSU
...or by jumping out to an early 14-17 point lead it forces the other teams offense to adjust to keep up, thus taking more chances, thus making it easier on the defense
It goes both ways

Isn't that what all defenses in all sports do? I think u meant playing from behind. In which case I can definitely see the benefits to playing with a nice lead

yep we would have leads on teams making them throw on us alot more. we could pin our ears back and go after qbs.
people forget on top of him having jack shite to do with d that the texas tech d wouldn't have any player sniff the starting line up here.

Yes that's what I meant. Was typing this all out on my iPhone and was just trying to get y point across.

C'mon Chicken I was just going for dramatic effect. Anyways I was close. And yes our defense can improve. (We'll start by not tackling our own players, ahem, Hatcher.)

But most aren't comparing Leach to what we have now as I think all would agree that Leach would be an upgrade...but it still doesn't mean that he is the best for the job.
If you are running Microsoft Windows 95, changing to XP or Vista (okay that one is debatable) is an upgrade, but not as good as going to Windows 7.

After what I saw with Leach at TT, our defense would still be back on the field after 3 plays. True it would likely be 7 more points, but they would still get worn out by the end of the game. Like someone said earlier, is it really better for us to win 48 to 44 than 20 to 14?
Personally, I would rather win 30 to 10 with a balanced offense that scores after long, long time consuming drives that keeps the defense fresh rather than playing a shoot out.
So again, is Leach an upgrade? Sure. But is he as good as we could hope for? I don't think so.

So is the CDC guy infected too? That shite did go through his glove.
I dunno Pev's. For sure the days of the RB's like Charles Scott and Ridley might fade. But think of the use of quick scat backs such as Ford and Murph.
Those talking about the Defense dropping off if we hire Leach as OC:
A) That's fricking retarded. He coaches O not D.
B) If we have a good O, we can get an early lead on teams, 14-17 points, then let our D pin their ear's back and blitz.
C) Where is the most abundant source of young talent at LSU? The Secondary. We are loaded for years. We go up early, blitz, and let our young, talented secondary sit back and pick the opposing QB's apart.

Guys listen to serious a/k/a sirius radio. Some of the callers who know more than I ever will are saying that the Patriots stole a lot of their shite from Leach, in incredible detail btw, that is why that they took Welker, etc. He won 3 our of last 5 versus OU, you saw what he did to Texas. It is akin to him taking Vandy and kicking our arse and Bama's 3 out of last 5.
He never had enough talent there to really win, yet he did. As an OC with Mettenberg, and our running backs and rec we would be unstoppable. Plus he runs an up tempo fast release Offense, so the line doesnt have to be great.
I can tell you this the rest of the Big 12 was toasting champagne when texas tech fired him.
They are damn glad to see him geaux as he was making them look bad.
If he difficult sometimes yes. Did the adminstration hate him yes. Did the administratioin hate Saban, yes.
Do you really give a damn about making the adminstrations life easy or do you want another NC? At 150k and up, they should be able to deal a little adversity in my book. Or let them come out into real world and give it a try.

quote:this is fricking stupid. Why does a huge upgrade on the offense equate to a HUGE drop off on defense? Is LSU giving up 40+ pts now w/ the terrible T.O.P.? No. Stop w/ this asinine bs.

So you're saying our D would be on the field the same amount of time as they currently are, AND we would score massive points?
So top 10 D and top 10 O. Awesome.
Gotcha. Although I understand what you're saying, the argument that our D would get tired because they would be on the field is weak. Would they be on the field any longer than they are now when we keep going 3-0? No.
I'm not saying Leach is the best choice, FWIW I'd prefer DH, but the argument that the reason Leach shouldn't come, because our D would suffer, is invalid.

Those that don't understand how one affects the other are fricking retarded.
JLee plays offense not defense. How did his play in 2008 affect the defense? Had no impact because he played on offense, right? Sure his pick-sixes increased the other teams points, but the defense still played lights out all game every game right?
The fact is, that a team with an offense that has an effective, balanced attack is more likely to have a defense that is able to be more agressive because it is fresh...a defense that is fresh is also typically more disciplined...tired leads to lazy - lazy leads to undisciplined plays which leads to defenders not following assignments which leads to big plays...blah blah you get the point..
