"Anytime. Anyplace. Anywhere."

quote:

TCU athletic director Chris Del Conte heard Ohio State President Gordon Gee take shots at small conference schools. Now, he's firing back with some bullets of his own.

""I sat back and just thought about our football program and our coach and realized that to start throwing stones at your house, they must be jealous," Del Conte said on KESN-103.3 in Dallas.

"We have a phenomenal football program. ... And someone now starts taking shots at TCU? That means we've arrived."

He's willing to prove it too.

"Anytime. Anyplace. Anywhere," he challenged. "Buckeyes against the Horned Frogs. Tee it up. Let's go."

The controversy began earlier Wednesday, when Gee gave an interview to the Associated Press defending the BCS and the exisiting bowl system in college football.

"I do know, having been both a Southeastern Conference president and a Big Ten president, that it's like murderer's row every week for these schools" said Gee, formerly president of three other BCS schools before coming to Columbus.

"We do not play the Little Sisters of the Poor."

That last comment referred specifically to TCU and Boise State, whom Gee believes do not play schedules difficult enough to merit a potential trip to the national championship game.

-- Doug LesmerisesCOLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State's win Saturday sent the Buckeyes to the Rose Bowl. If their schedule this season had worked out differently, the Buckeyes' win may also have sent Texas Christian to the national title game.

In late December of 2007, Ohio State said it had reached a deal to open the 2009 season at home against TCU. Army had recently backed out of a planned series, and the Horned Frogs, coming off an 8-5 season, were set for a one-game trip to Columbus. According to Ohio State, the game had been agreed to but the contract wasn't yet signed.

"I'd say Ohio State really wanted it," TCU associate athletic director Jack Hesselbrock, who handles the Horned Frogs' football scheduling, said last week. "They had an opening and needed an opponent, and I think the fans would have liked it and been intrigued by it."

Hesselbrock said TCU was about 50-50 on taking the game, but certainly talked it over. There were some logistical problems. Virginia was already scheduled for the season opener and according to Hesselbrock, it would not have been easy to shift that game. Also, with TCU's growing success, the Horned Frogs were looking to get away from taking paydays to serve as opponents for BCS schools, as they did with losses to Texas in 2007 and Oklahoma in 2008.

So while they liked the idea of playing Ohio State for the first time since 1973, the program was hoping to move beyond that.

"And Ohio State was not interested in a return here for obvious reasons," Hesselbrock said.

Which side of his arse is he talking out of because TCU's past actions indicate that he's full of shite.

Did you gloss over these? When it's convenient they pull out the anytime, anyplace, anywhere line. When it was time to put up or shut up they chose the easy way out.

Anytime, anyplace, anywhere for just the one or two legitimate games each season? That isnt what President Gee was getting at.

It's easy for TCU's AD to say anytime anywhere because he knows how difficult it is to schedule. He can run his mouth because he knows he can't play Ohio State until 10 years from now.

Thats funny. Yeah, one of the most successful big football programs in recent history is jealous of YOU.

Again, dumb shite, its not a one game challenge that tOSU is giving to TCU, its about the overall powder puff schedule that you have. I suggest SWITCHING schedules for one season. That would be VERY fun to watch.

TCU plays most of their big games in the south...I'm not saying I don't respect the program. They've gone into OU and won and they've beaten some good texas teams. However, I would love to see TCU try and play their 245 DEs against OSU's 5* tackles who love to run block

Edit: And I am now hoping that OSU can play TCU in the rose....oh please

Apparently you didn't read the thread and just responded and missed the quotes that stated that Ohio State attempted to schedule this game and thought it was a done deal until TCU backed out.

Reading comprehension FTW dumbass.
