bullshite to be the best you have to play and beat the best, Oregon wins the NC and we beat them to start the year how great is that. Quit thinking like a coward.

Boise and TCU want to start a verbal war against the SEC and big Ten. frick them and their pussy schedule.
Both would crater under the constant pounding of the SEC.

Oregon is losing 11 starters. Alot on defense and 3 olinemen. I think we can beat them.

This game makes no sense to me. We already have strength of schedule (SEC!) so we need no help there. Why play a game that we could quite possibly lose starting the season 0-1 and then be essentially out of the race? Clearly the current system is overly generous to undefeated teams. Look how Boise and TCU benefit from playing a weak schedule.
We will not be playing the same Oregon team that is on the field now...each year a team is different...they just survived a game against Cal that was taken to the woodshed by Nevada...
I'm sure there are Oregon fans saying the same thing you are, "damn we got to play LSU right out the gate!"
Remember, if you are going to lose a game, its best to lose early and lose to a quality team...

It embarrasses the hell out of me when LSU fans start talking about it being a mistake to schedule strong OCC opponents. If LSU is as strong as we think they will be, then why not prove it on the field? I hate it when fans are content with LSU playing La. Tech and ULM. Oh, and to the fan who laughed at Bama scheduling Ga.State, if memory serves me right, they also played Penn State. We need to play the best in order to be ranked among the best. This SEC is tough crap has got to end. The entire country is tired of hearing it. If the OP thinks that LSU is in a very tough conference and that playing Oregon is a mistake, then LSU needs to withdraw from the SEC and join the WAC and be with La. Tech. I wonder if the OP would think that it would be a mistake if we opened with Kentucky if we were in the WAC.

Love to hear LSU fans complaining about scheduling OOC big dogs away from Tiger Stadium. This thread needs to make its way to an Oregon board.

LSU in Dallas will be like a home game. Kick the shite out of the Pac-10 darlings and possible defending national champs and shut the ESPN douches up early. I think scheduling big nc games is awesome. We do have a tough roadie to Morganstown next year too. If LSU can wins those two games it will go along way towards positioning for BCS NC game even if we drop an SEC game along the way.

Oregon's a quality OOC opponent that guarantees a national spotlight. The game is played in an area that can be a huge pipeline area for recruiting. How in the world can this be a BAD thing?

Lsu would not have scheduled this game if they did not think they could win it. The game was scheduled this year. Lsu knows that oregon is a good team, but the coaches and athletic department also know that our team will be very experienced and talented. Not to mention, they will have 7 months to get a defense that can limit Oregon.

The recruiting impact from this game is very minimal. This isn't 1980 when only one game is on TV every Saturday. LSU plays 7-8 or more nationally televised games every year.

LSU could lose, and then drop another SEC game down the road, and play themselves right out of the NC race; whereas, they'd be in the discussion with just 1 SEC loss.
I agree that this game is a mistake from a football standpoint. We already play one tough OOC game next year, and it's on the road, and that's plenty tough enough to compete for a NC. In this college football world, it doesn't make sense for an SEC team to have a schedule as tough as ours next year. You can call it shying away from competition; I'll call it smart scheduling. If we go 10-2 next year, that would be a great accomplishment with the schedule, but it likely won't have LSU playing for a championship. Also, I'm not happy that we only have 6 home games next year. Are TAF/Tradition Fund fees going to be reduced to account for the home game that we're missing out on?

I don't think that has anything to do with it. This is all about the $. LSU is making more money off this game than they would have on a home game against a patsy...that's why we're playing this game.

YOU need to make your way to an Oregon board. Or any board for that matter.
And stay there.

Because it should be a VERY entertaining game...?
After all, what is the point of college football, to win championships, or to entertain fans?
I vote for entertainment.
Play the game.
Schedule more big OOC games.

I'm glad you aren't in charge of LSU football. In the words of Herm Edwards, "You play to win the game!"

So, if it's a blowout, you'll say we shouldn't have scheduled it?

this game is a terrific opportunity...
to run our winning streak against the Pac-10 to 11 games!
seriously though, can't wait. I'll be there

Like I said above, you can call it pussing out, I'll call it smart scheduling. I'd have no problem with this game in 2012. Next year we already have a long road trip against a perennial top 25 team. Why make the schedule harder than it has to be? The answer is money, but that's a different discussion.
