There has been a request to add some TV and Board awards to the Annual Roscoes. For those new to the board or haven't voted in the past, we were only having movie awards in previous years with the following categories:
Best Soundtrack
Best Writing
Career Ending Performance
Breakthrough Performance
Best Foreign Film
Best Animated Film
Best Horror/Sci Fi Film
Best Popcorn Flick
Most Random Duo
Worst Actress Performance
Worst Actor Performance
Worst Movie
Funniest Performance
Funniest Movie
Best Director
Best Supporting Actress
Best Supporting Actor
Best Actress
Best Actor
Best Picture

I propose to add the following TV Awards:
Best Show
Best Drama Series
Best Comedy Series
Best Reality Show
Funniest Performance
Best Reality "Character"
Worst Reality "Character"
Best Actor in a TV Series
Best Actress in a TV Series
Best Reality Host
Worst Show
Best Talkshow (Late Night or Daytime)

Board Awards:

Best Poster
Funniest Poster
Thread of the Year
Worst Poster

I really can't think of too many Droppie type awards for the board awards.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions for any additional categories

I will start a thread about nominations being turned in around the new year. Time frame is as follows:
Nominations turned in: January 1st - January 21st
Nominations Released: January 24th
Voting Period: January 25th - February 17th
Winners Announced: February 18th

This could get out of hand quickly, but I think it should shift more to board awards than movie awards, make it half and half, so:

quote:

Best Soundtrack
Best Writing
Career Ending Performance
Breakthrough Performance

Best Foreign Film
Best Animated Film
Best Horror/Sci Fi Film
Best Popcorn Flick
Most Random Duo
Worst Actress Performance
Worst Actor Performance

Worst Movie
Funniest Performance
Funniest Movie

Best Director
Best Supporting Actress
Best Supporting Actor
Best Actress
Best Actor
Best Picture

I would remove the bolded items and combine the italicized items.

quote:

Best Show
Best Drama Series
Best Comedy Series
Best Reality Show
Funniest Performance
Best Reality "Character"
Worst Reality "Character"

Best Actor in a TV Series
Best Actress in a TV Series
Best Reality Host
Worst Show
Best Talkshow (Late Night or Daytime)

Remove the Bolded again

quote:

Board Awards:
Best Poster
Funniest Poster
Thread of the Year
Worst Poster

Rename these into something fun and add some.

The Best Poster: "The Hitchcock Award"
Thread of the Year: "The Kurosawa Award"

Etc.

I might add an award named in honor of Dan. A Best Tourney award (definitely not won by the 90's), and a few others.

I think a few other individual awards could be:

smartest poster
cleverest poster
The Skip Bayless (or somebody more movie-related) award for most facetiously contrarian poster.
The <famous snob> award for snobbiest poster.

We need to add a category for "badass" male and female characters.

Some acting jobs are not amazing, but they make the character sufficiently badass, in either good or nefarious ways.

Examples would include:
Imelda Staunton in Harry Potter.
Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino
Uma Thurman in Kill Bill
Idris Elba in The Losers
Micheal Madsen in Reservoir Dogs

Obviously these aren't nominations, just examples of the types of bad-arse performances.
