does it cake when it gets wet?
will the deer eat it when it gets wet?
do hogs eat it like everything else?
do coons eat it?
do you just pour it out on the ground? use a pipe feeder? mix it with corn?

Pour it on the ground; if it rains, it cakes and will eventually rot into the ground

I just pour mine onto the ground, it's good because you can see if anything has eaten it.

Just pour it, a lite rain will not do much to the bran. I have game cam pics of deer eating it in the rain and then back the next day.
I have not seen any coons eating it, but I do have a pic of a possum climbing on the pile, I don't know if he ate any or was just checking it out.

I hate possums. Disgusting useless creatures.

I just pour it on the ground as well. I also use the pellets as it takes more rain for them to cake. The deer will eat the rice bran before they go to the corn.
ETA: I have been kicking around the idea of a raised covered feeder so that it stays dry.

I pile it up on the ground. If I have a 50 lb sack, I usually make two piles. When it rains the top will form a crust like layer and protect the rest. Its like crack for the deer, they love it. I've got pictures of them shoving their whole face into the pile.
Also, the coons don't touch it.

I have had coons come to my rice brand 3 times this year while I was on my bow stand and they ate all 3 times. One time it was an entire family, momma and 4 little ones. Also had 2 foxes come eat from the pile. The foxes started rolling in it after they ate.
I always heard that nothing else will eat rice brand but I have seen differently. Maybe the animals in my area are just dumb.....

I pour it out in a line about 10'-12' long. Kinda looks like a humongous Hollywood line of coke. Some of the things I have observed both on pictures and live the last several years: To me the line works better than the pile because it allows more deer to feed at one time. If it gets real wet deer won't really eat it. Hogs will eat it but prefer corn. Coons will eat the hell out of it. Bucks like it 10 times better than corn. Little weevils will burrow in it. Armadillos will dig it in looking for little weevils. Dogs like to piss on it.

There's a guy by my house who makes covered feeders like some use for minerals for cattle. Has a little overhang and tin roof.

We just pour it on the ground.
It does cake when it gets wet, but the deer usually eat it before it gets a chance to get wet.
I don't have a problem with coons eating it, and no hogs around us.
They make a rice bran feeder now... LINK I think I'm gonna buy one and try it out.

Yeah, but what about squirrels?

My dad bought one and said it didn't work worth a shite. He called On-time and they said something to the effect that they knew it sucked and sent him a corn feeder as a replacement.

Haven't noticed squirrels messing with the rice bran much.
