generate? IMO those are some prime parking areas to be used at $40/car.

but wait... some people are saying LSU is a business. Also, what does Title 9 have to say that moving soccer field and softball park to the distant areas of campus to allow the higher revenue events to use that space for parking.

Umm, they lose money. I think LSU baseball and football are the only sports that make money.

It is. And businesses work in the context of government regulation. In order to have a ridiculously profitable football team, we build amazing facilities, for example, for the softball team. How much money they generate is irrelevant. And since your subject question was "how much money does soccer & softball generate"...

This is a stupid argument. By federal law the University must have these sports. (well not specific sports but a certain amount of women scholorships)
Of course they don't make money.

This and Title 9...can't have football if you don't follow all of the "rules"

Pretty sure that's where they are now. Not sure where you would recommend moving them.

And you'd be out of a job.
But lets not let government intrusion blind you from LSU Athletics so called "business".

The point is LSU athletics must work within the confines of the federal govt, so if you eliminate any women's sport, you'd be eliminating a money losing program but you'd also be breaking the law.
Thus this is a dumb argument.

Actually, basketball makes more than baseball.
It's all about TV contracts.
Men's basketball at worst breaks even because of their split of the SEC TV money. They make a pile of money if they go to the Tourney.
Baseball makes money if it goes to the postseason.
We're one of very few schools to actually have three revenue generating sports.
This information was garnered from a lunch with Mark Ewing.
ETA .. This was pre New Alex Box. Might make more now.

You see where the $20 parking areas are located on the most distant parts of the campus? Move them there.

No one wants to eliminate those sports (well yea I actually do) but I am just implying to move them to areas of campus that free up space for football fans. This could help offset the money that the ladies and crappy other sports lose.

tearing down an already existing structure and having to rebuild it at a new location costs big bucks, therefore, not good business.

exactly... there was poor planning for both the parking areas vs. softball field placements. Also, the soccer field which is even in a more primed area is hardly a facility IMO and would cost very little to move as opposed to the money they could make from football parking.

It is. Look at Title 9 as a government restriction they don't have any control over.

Gender based arse wipe. Yes football fuels the financial beast, but those other sports are a part of the university athletic universe. It's lime that commercial says -- We are NCAA athletes, and most of us will be doing something otyher than sports after we graduate.
